I have studied In Costa Rica for my Junior year of University. I lived and taught Spanish in Phoenix AZ. I traveled extensively throughout Spain for 2 months and I have also traveled in Mexico.

I am a current Senior at the University of Michigan studying Financial Mathematics. I have tutored professionally for 2 years as well as independently for 3 years. I graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a BS in engineering physics, and a math minor. I have been tutoring for more than 6 years. For 2.5 years, I taught math to Cornell Engineering undergraduates, and I looked forward to it every week! On Varsity Tutors, I tutor up to college level mathematics and physics, test prep (including AP courses, and SAT reading/writing). Explaining difficult math and science concepts in plain English is my forte. I love teaching and will be glad to help anyone become an independent learner.

If I could be a student the rest of my life, I definitely would be. I completed my Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education at the University of Southern Mississippi, after which I spent two years teaching middle school and high school band full-time. I then completed a Master of Music in Music Theory at the University of Oklahoma, which is when I really started to work one-on-one with students in music theory. I believe we thrive as performers when we fall in love with music. Music theory is just a way of better understanding (and thus better loving) the music we perform. In my professional life, I am also an academic life coach and advisor, as well as a graduate programs administrator. I love to write and have been published both under my own name and under a handful of other pen names. I regularly present to my local professional organizations on topics regarding student success, particularly at the graduate level.

I am currently attending Baruch College (CUNY). I am majoring in Actuarial Sciences at Baruch.Throughout my academic career, both in high school and college, I have always been passionate about math and tutoring. This past year I have also tutored younger students who were prepping for the SHSAT.From my experience I have noticed students who are struggling in math only need a certain push to keep them on track. I firmly believe with the right help, students can not only be able to solve problems and understand material but they can approach tests with confidence. Math isn't impossible and I'm here to show my students that with a serious mindset they can succeed in their tests and should have no reason to be afraid.In my spare time I enjoy watching soccer, playing soccer, and performing magic.

With over two years experience tutoring in creative writing, reading, history, and test prep, I am focused on improving fundamental study skills through a practical, hands-on approach. This includes imbedding real-world applications into every lesson to inspire students and spark their latent curiosity. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard in 2018 and currently live in Los Angeles, CA.

I graduated from Brown University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science with a focus on Children’s Development. While I was at Brown I was the president of my all-female acappella group, the Brown’sTones, I performed in a lot of theatre on campus, and I volunteered in pre-school and kindergarten classrooms.Last year I worked at a charter high school in Boston, MA that supplied students with in-school tutoring during the day. There I tutored Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and all high school levels of English. I also organized all of the clubs and activities for the school and led the choir. I would never describe myself as just a “Math and Science” or just an “English and History” person, which is why I tutored so many different subjects, but if I had to pick a favorite I would say that tutoring math is my favorite. There’s something great about knowing that an answer is 100% , beyond a shadow of a doubt, correct.If you ask any of my students they will definitely tell you that I am a fun tutor. I think a tutoring session will go exponentially better if there’s some laughter involved. I’m always down for racing against my students doing math problems or coming up with hilarious study mnemonics for upcoming tests.This past fall, I lived in Padua, Italy as an au pair for a family with a 6 year-old and an 8 year-old. I got to improve my Italian, drink delicious cappuccino with the other au pairs in the mornings while looking out over the beautiful piazzas, and travel all around Italy. I even went to the largest chocolate festival in all of Europe! Now that I’m back in the states, I work at a noted university in a lab that studies how environment and socioeconomic status affect children’s brain development. Specifically, I work on a project that studies the efficacy of HeadStart programs in New York.
