I am a recent graduate from the University of North Texas. I obtained my BA in Biology and then returned for an MA in Linguistics, along with a Graduate Certificate in TESOL. Teaching is a passion of mine, particularly teaching English as a Second Language. I have been tutoring for over three years, and have created an ESL class at a local church to help serve my community. Many students seek help from an ESL teacher for a specific reason. It could be to raise their TOEFL scores, strengthen their communication skills for their job, or for a better quality of life while living in an English speaking country. Whatever the reason, I am here to help my students to the best of my ability. My teaching philosophy is that I aim to motivate my students, while instilling confidence. I want my students to leave my lessons with confidence in the skills that they have just gained.Aside from creating fun and interactive English lessons, my hobbies include playing the guitar, going for walks, and learning Korean. I also love music and watching foreign dramas.

I tutor middle and high school students, and I also have some teaching experience with elementary school grades. I believe a solid understanding of grammar, syntax and spelling is important when learning any language; but at the same time, I always complement the theoretical part with practical examples, using various kinds of media, including books, articles, videos, and experiences from my own life. Serious fun!

Hi there! I am a creative individual with a technical-mind. I love math, any creative outlet, and helping people succeed at their work or studies. My tutoring style involves a mix of repetition, real-world analogies, and hand-drawn pictures/diagrams to help my students grasp the concepts they are struggling with. I have learned to use such a variety of tools in my own studies. Now, as I work with my own students, I gauge their comprehension while working through material and apply different techniques based on their personality/learning style. While I love sharing what I know, I like to ask questions that will lead the student to discover the answer themselves. In my experience, I gain more confidence when an answer I generate is affirmed, as opposed to just being fed the answer in a lecture. Learning is better as an interactive experience.I graduated from Lone Star College in 2017 with an Honors Associate of Science degree, and now I'm living and loving the Aggie life as a transfer student at Texas A&M in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. When I'm not studying or working, I love hanging out with friends, doing volunteer work, and building with my Lego collection whatever my imagination (and available pieces) will allow me to.I have been a tutor for the last academic year, and I love being able to help students succeed in their studies. My tutoring experience includes areas of physics, math, and writing. Below is a list highlighting my tutoring experience.Physics:AP Physics C (Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism)College/University Physics I and II.Math:Elementary School MathCollege AlgebraCalculus IBusiness CalculusWriting:EditingWord-choiceContinuityCiting SourcesCheck below for a full list of the subjects I have excelled in and can tutor. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley where I focused on ecology and evolutionary biology. As an undergraduate, I had the chance to serve in two teaching positions on campus. In the first course, I assisted graduate students and professors to guide a class through core level biology. The second was a hands-on affair, in which I led students through the preparation of animal specimens for preservation in a museum. Through my experiences, I have discovered that the best way to learn and teach a subject is to tackle it with a variety of approaches. For example, students intimidated by the technical jargon of math often find problems easier to understand when symbols are replaced with words. Through such strategies, I aim to make dense material more communicable and relatable and to provide students with the confidence to accept new challenges. I am most excited to discuss ecology, evolution, and math, but I am also able to tutor subjects such as physics, writing, and standardized testing. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, practicing martial arts, and hiking.
Kristin
ACT Math Tutor • +14 Subjects
Hello, my name is Kristin and I am a graduate of the University of Georgia. I am a huge sports fan. Math has always been my favorite subject and I have had experience with long-term substitute positions teaching Algebra 2 and Trigonometry. I have been a high school substitute teacher since March of 2012, but am also comfortable tutoring middle school and elementary school math. I know mathematics is not every student's favorite subject so I like to relate the subject to something the student enjoys. I can relate to almost all students in one way or another. I love the feeling of helping a student succeed and would love to help your child, too!

Massachusetts has rigorous state standards, particularly in math and English language arts, and personalized 1-on-1 instruction is proven to help students master these benchmarks more effectively than classroom instruction alone. Tutors working with Worcester students focus on the specific competencies required by Massachusetts frameworks, including MCAS preparation, writing standards, and problem-solving skills that align with state expectations.
