I recently started teaching through Varsity Tutors, and before starting here I have had extensive teaching experience both in and out of the classroom. I have taught ESL here in the U.S. as well as in Morocco, Nicaragua, and Spain, both to classes and in individual lessons. I have also taught Spanish and Italian, and practiced conversational French with interested students. I am passionate about seeing my students progress and gain confidence over the course of our lessons together, and I really enjoy getting to know them and their interests, which helps guide my teaching approach. I hope to inspire in my students a love for languages, music, and excellence in English writing, as these are things that I am most passionate about.

I am really excited about working with students in the Philadelphia area! I grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated high school with an IB diploma. For college, I moved to Houston to attend Rice University, where I majored in Psychology. I then earned a masters degree in Religion at Yale and I am now working towards a degree in Bioethics at UPenn. I also completed the premedical requirements during this time.In Connecticut, I worked as a chaplain in a community hospital. Upon moving to Philadelphia, I found a position at CHOP as a research assistant and then transitioned to a job as an OB/GYN research coordinator at HUP. Outside of academia, I work as a barista and I skate on an adult synchronized ice skating team in Philly!

I graduated from the University of Delaware in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. I achieved Cum Laude distinction at the time of my graduation, and I was also admitted into Eta Kappa Nu, the electrical engineering honors society. In that organization, I was elected Chapter President during my senior year. Since graduation, I have worked in a wide variety of technology-based corporations, including Raytheon Company, EMS Wireless, and Envista Forensics LLC. My engineering experience was heavily based in mathematics and physics which I used to solve a broad range of engineering challenges. Now, as a retired engineer, I have taken up tutoring students. I specialize in mathematics - Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I am passionate about teaching and learning! I learned from many years of technical experience the value of thoroughly learning the fundamentals of science and mathematics. I really enjoy having students get engaged with the coursework and see them excel beyond their expectations. In my personal time, I enjoy music and amateur radio.

Hi! My background includes a Bachelor's degree in English from Roosevelt University, and a Master's degree in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University. In late 2019, I had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the College of Lake County (for an English Composition I class). I also had the honor and privilege of working as a Peer Writing Tutor for DePaul University's Writing Center. I collaborated with both Undergraduate and Graduate students of all studies/disciplines on any writing-based projects, both personal and academic. I provided writing support to clients with the goal of helping them become even more successful writers in school and beyond. Currently, I am working as tutor in a freelance capacity. Over the past year, I have worked with dozens of students on the following platforms: Tutor.com, TutorMe and Smarthinking. I helped clients with brainstorming writing ideas, providing sources, improving writing quality, and developing argumentation skills.I firmly believe that learning should be fun. Nothing motivates learners as much as fun does because it comes from genuine interest from within instead of pressure from others. Students are much more likely to invest extra time in the learning process if they enjoy it.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Michigan. Throughout my college career, I tutored general and organic chemistry courses, and I loved it. Tutoring allowed me to meet many beautiful people and interact with them about science, which I am passionate about. Furthermore, I always tried to excel in my classes, so I have used tutoring services for math and physics. Therefore I know how valuable a good tutor can be when you need to earn that "A" in the class.

As a graduate from UC Irvines Literary Journalism program, I have always been enthusiastic about sharing the most effective ways to write, read and communicate to the best of ones ability.Enjoying and succeeding in a literature class does not require having the right answers. Instead, I feel that its about having the tools needed to interpret the meaning behind novels, short stories, poetry, and other types of works. Its also about using those tools to draw ones own conclusions.In addition to having the right tools, I also believe that confidence is important to build in the classroom as well.During my junior and senior year of high school, I took International Baccalaureate classes in English. I sometimes struggled with writing essays and speaking up during class discussions. It was only until I sought a bit of extra help after school from my teachers and even classmates that I began to improve, which is why I see the value in spending personal time with students to help them reach their individual goals.I continued to challenge myself in English and literature-related classes in college. I took courses in writing, poetry, plays, and even journalism and film.I graduated from UC Irvine in 2014 having made the Deans Honor List.In addition to my passion for reading and writing, I also enjoy playing music, doing arts and crafts projects, and going to yoga.

I am a Senior in college at Cedarville University currently studying civil engineering. I have taken up through Calculus 3 along with Physics 1& 2, Statistics, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Algebra. I also received an excellent score on the SAT after many stressful hours of studying. I understand the pressure that comes with the exam and would love to help alleviate some of that. I love tutoring students as I have already done so for many years. I hope to one day travel overseas and help design systems that will transport drinkable water to those in developing countries.
