Anatomy & Physiology Tutor • +22 Subjects
I am currently a first year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. In 2020, I graduated with Magna Cum Laude and Honors with a Bachelor in Science in Biology from Texas Christian University. Along with my Biology major, I minored in Chemistry, Spanish for the Health Professions, and Cultural Awareness in Health and Healthcare. I am passionate about learning, which is one of the reasons I enjoy tutoring and helping other students learn. My tutoring style is tailored to each student, but I find that the best way to teach is to explain the concept, answer questions, and then have the student explain the concept back to me in order to ensure they retain the knowledge. I also enjoy providing study tips for how to learn scientific concepts more effectively, and more specifically, how to successfully study for high level science courses or the MCAT.

I am a recent graduate of Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies and Economics. In high school, I successfully completed the International Baccalaureate program and graduated with 39/45 possible points. Additionally, I received the AP Scholar with Distinction award, for passing six AP courses.I am passionate about helping students because I was helped as a student, so I understand how frustrating it is to not understand something, and I know how valuable it is to have personalized, one-on-one assistance. Additionally, I am an idealistic young man who believes that education is the key to saving this democracy, so helping to shape young minds would be morally rewarding for me as well.As a graduate of the IB Program, and having taken many AP Courses, I know those curriculums inside and out, and would be very comfortable tutoring for any IB/AP course that I completed. Additionally, having just completed the Economics degree at Columbia, I am also well equipped to tutor for microeconomics, macroeconomics, and most mathematics courses. Otherwise, my favorite subject to tutor would definitely be English and Creative Writing. I am especially well-equipped to help workshop/revise college admission essays, because I went through that whole process with a college prep program, so I know all of the strategies to maximize the likelihood of admission. In my spare time, I enjoy watching films, writing films, running, and reading.

I have a BA in Humanities from the University of Louisville, with specialized studies in French language, Russian Language and Philosophy. I also hold double minors in Russian Studies and Philosophy. I am currently a dual Graduate degree student at the University of Louisville where I am pursuing a Masters in Humanities with a concentration in Civic Leadership and a Juris Doctorate from the Brandeis School of Law. I have an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Ivy Tech Community College. I also spent three years at American Military University where I studied Intelligence Collection and Analysis and Criminal Intelligence. I am a business owner and over the last five years I have been fortunate enough to work in adult education. Through my company I provide, both, individualized and group instruction, as well as, educational presentations and speaking engagements. I recently spent a year as a ESL Instructional Assistant where I taught biology, English and automotive skills to non-English speaking students. I have spent most of my professional life as a small business owner and have worked as a patrol office in law enforcement. I work hard to listen and understand the issues that my students are facing and I try to bring an interesting and engaging perspective to tutoring. In my spare time I enjoy scuba diving, reading, going to the gym, drinking coffee and hanging out with my three cats.

I am a recent graduate of the Brown School of Social Work with a concentration in social and economic development and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Tufts University with a B.A. in Peace and Justice Studies and a minor in English. At Tufts and the Brown School I conducted research about educational equity, inclusion, and integration and housing justice. My Master's of Social Work informs my tutoring strategies of relationship building, motivation, and empowerment. I've always loved the teaching and tutoring opportunities I've been fortunate to have, and I've been lucky to tutor a wide age range from grade schoolers to high schoolers. I enjoy teaching multiple topics especially the social sciences, and I've had particular success coming up with creative and individualized methods to prepare students for the critical reading and the writing sections of standardized tests (including private school admission tests). I've also had a great time engaging students with English class and essay writing material, as well as coaching them through presentations and public speaking. It is exciting for me to see my students processing and thinking about new topics, and to see them become more confident in their own ideas and in their reading and writing. Through my studies I've had the opportunity to be immersed in the topics I'm passionate about and I look forward to the opportunity to share these passions for essay writing (including college admission essays), English, history, and political science. I've been lucky to have a wonderful educational experience and I want to help other students be in the best position to have their own. In my free time I love being outdoors, trying out new recipes, and reading. My guilty pleasure is getting too emotionally involved in reality TV."

As your tutor, my approach revolves around you: you guide what we cover each session to focus on your needs and goals. I have been tutoring students of all ages since my junior year of high school, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to do so. I feel comfortable tutoring an array of subjects, particularly the various levels of psychology, English, German, and writing, but algebra and statistics have wormed their way into my heart over the years! My particular style of tutoring is unique, most likely to due to my sense of humor. Even someone's least favorite subject does not have to be a bore, and I quite enjoy taking some of the pressure off by being lighthearted and enthusiastic. As long as the student feels comfortable with the progress he or she is making, that's all that matters. I will never define what is successful for my students, I always adhere to how they define their own success. As far as I'm concerned, we're a team, and I'm happy to do what it takes to help them meet their goals. As a graduate of Sewickley Academy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, I currently possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. I am currently attending Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore in pursuit of a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, where I am conducting original research in the areas of parental psychological control and somatic symptoms in young adults. Needless to say, this means there is quite a lot of psychology in my life, so while I am happy to assist others with their psychology classes, tutoring gives me a chance to take a break from it all and indulge myself in the other subjects I love!Outside of what must sound like an incredibly academic life, I do find time to entertain myself. I love going to museums and am definitely interested in some recommendations for the must-see museums in Baltimore. I'm a huge theatre lover, and I sometimes dabble in acting when I have time. I absolutely love doing voices and accents when I tell stories. If laser-pointering with my cat were an Olympic sport, I would certainly qualify. I'm an admirer of film and television as art forms, which is a fancy way of saying I like great movies and TV shows. Eating something delicious while reading a good book is my preferred method of relaxation, although it makes me wish I had more than two hands and two eyes. That's me in a nutshell!
