Embarking on the journey of education can be an exciting and equally anxiety provoking endeavor. There are many exams to take, projects to complete, and deadlines to meet. This is in no way an easy journey but it is a worthwhile one. A journey that will see you grow into your true potential. Whenever you gain a new piece of understanding of the world around you, your perception of the world forever changes, you see things you could not see before. This is a magical process; my life is dedicated to facilitating this process for others. I began my own journey of higher education with the Biological Sciences. During my third year of college I constantly found myself in a position where I was helping my peers understand the material and I realized that I thoroughly enjoyed doing this. I began working as a tutor at my college and then worked as a teaching assistant in the Gross Anatomy and Cell Biology Labs. From there I went to medical school in Brooklyn, NY. During medical school I continued developing my passion for teaching. Running tutoring sessions for my peers and underclassmen, organizing a medical education and exposure program for high school students known as HPREP, creating educational materials in the form of video demonstrations, and eventually being hired as an adjunct professor of Gross Anatomy for the Occupational Therapy program at Downstate Medical Center. I am currently in the medical education track at my school and in training to become a full-time faculty member after graduating. My teaching style is focused on meeting the student where they are. I always begin assessing the current knowledge base and level of understanding so I can have a good idea of where to start. From there we will work together and I will adapt my teaching style according to how the student best assimilates knowledge. I take pride in being adaptable and flexible. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. I would be excited to obtain the opportunity to work with you.

Varsity Tutors connects students across White Plains's 21 schools and serves the broader White Plains City School District. Whether your student attends an elementary, middle, or high school in the area, we can match them with a tutor who understands the local curriculum and New York State standards they're working toward.
New York has rigorous academic benchmarks, and personalized 1-on-1 instruction is proven to accelerate learning and close gaps. Tutors working with students in White Plains focus on mastering the specific skills tested on New York State assessments—whether that's Regents exams, state math and ELA tests, or AP courses—with targeted practice and feedback tailored to each student's needs.
White Plains students seek help across a wide range of subjects, with particularly strong demand for math (algebra, geometry, and Regents prep), English/ELA, test prep (SAT and ACT), and science courses. We also work with many students on AP exam preparation and foreign language support, reflecting the diverse academic goals across the district's 7,500+ students.
The first session is an opportunity for the tutor to understand your student's current level, learning style, and specific goals—whether that's improving grades, preparing for a Regents exam, or building confidence in a challenging subject. The tutor will assess where your student stands and create a personalized plan to address their needs, with follow-up sessions building on what they learn.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 10.5:1 in White Plains schools, classroom teachers do their best to support all learners, but personalized 1-on-1 instruction fills a critical gap. Tutoring allows your student to get individualized attention, ask questions without time pressure, and work at their own pace—something that's difficult in a traditional classroom setting.
Tutoring rates vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and your student's specific needs. We work with families across White Plains to find tutoring solutions that fit their budget, and many find that the focused, results-driven approach of personalized instruction delivers strong value. Contact us to discuss your student's needs and get a personalized estimate.
Yes. Regents exams are a major milestone for New York students, and tutors working with students in White Plains have extensive experience preparing them for these high-stakes assessments. Whether your student needs help with Regents Math, ELA, Science, or Social Studies, targeted tutoring builds both content mastery and test-taking strategies to help them succeed.
We take time to understand your student's academic needs, learning style, and personality to connect them with a tutor who's the right fit. Whether your student needs someone with deep expertise in AP Biology, a patient approach to building math confidence, or experience with learning differences, we match based on what will help your student succeed.
