I am able to focus solely on the needs of one individual. As a school teacher, I have been amazed at how effective one or two private extra help sessions can be for the student who has been struggling in the larger class environment. I believe that I explain language concepts clearly and in a way that students of all skill levels can understand.

I am a recent graduate from Princeton University interested in using my diverse skills set to tutor middle and high school students. I have studied in both public and private institutions in New York state and I am familiar with Regents, AP, SAT and IB exams.

I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's in Neuroscience and minors in chemistry and psychology. I also have been practicing the Spanish language for over 12 years and received a 5 on my AP exam in Spanish Literature. I'm an undergraduate student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute studying Electrical Engineering. I have years of experience tutoring and teaching math, English, physics, and other subjects to students from elementary school to seniors in high school. I am a recent graduate of Duke University in Durham, NC where I obtained my Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics with a concentration in Finance and a French minor. I am originally from Rock Hill, SC, but I am a new Financial Analyst at IBM in Armonk, NY. I was a Calculus I and II tutor through the Academic Resource Center at Duke for two years, and I developed much experience in this role. I learned that in order to be an effective tutor, the I must not only teach the materials learned in a clear manner, but must also be able to teach beneficial study habits for the student to apply throughout his or her coursework.

I'm a senior at Yale University double majoring in Economics and Computer Science with 6+ years of K-12 tutoring experience. I support students in K-12 Math, SAT Math, Introductory Computer Science, and College Essay Writing / Editing. As a former competitive athlete in synchronized figure skating, I bring patience, discipline, and tailored encouragement to every session.

I am currently studying Computer Engineering and Computer Science at Northeastern University. I have always loved the sciences, and through my courses in college I have also gained a huge appreciation for math, and especially calculus. I find that teaching concepts I've learned is the best way to truly cement my understanding of it. One of the most satisfying moments for me is when an idea finally "clicks" for a student and they suddenly understand the material much better. I always strive to make that happen. While in high school, I gained a year experience tutoring a classmate in AP Biology. In college I have aced my math courses, including Calculus 1 (differential) and Calculus 2 (integral). I earned very high scores on the ACT by practicing on my own and I consider myself a very good test taker, so I understand the techniques to get high scores on tests.

I love math, and have a passion for sharing that love and knowledge. Progressing through courses of mathematics teaches much beyond what is on the page. It teaches problem-solving, critical and creative thinking. I try not only to teach the mechanics of math, but instill an appreciation for the skills the process can develop. And while math is my favorite subject to tutor, I have had training in and am qualified for all sections of SAT and ACT test prep, and enjoy working with students to help them learn and meet their college goals.

Embarking on the journey of education can be an exciting and equally anxiety provoking endeavor. There are many exams to take, projects to complete, and deadlines to meet. This is in no way an easy journey but it is a worthwhile one. A journey that will see you grow into your true potential. Whenever you gain a new piece of understanding of the world around you, your perception of the world forever changes, you see things you could not see before. This is a magical process; my life is dedicated to facilitating this process for others. I began my own journey of higher education with the Biological Sciences. During my third year of college I constantly found myself in a position where I was helping my peers understand the material and I realized that I thoroughly enjoyed doing this. I began working as a tutor at my college and then worked as a teaching assistant in the Gross Anatomy and Cell Biology Labs. From there I went to medical school in Brooklyn, NY. During medical school I continued developing my passion for teaching. Running tutoring sessions for my peers and underclassmen, organizing a medical education and exposure program for high school students known as HPREP, creating educational materials in the form of video demonstrations, and eventually being hired as an adjunct professor of Gross Anatomy for the Occupational Therapy program at Downstate Medical Center. I am currently in the medical education track at my school and in training to become a full-time faculty member after graduating. My teaching style is focused on meeting the student where they are. I always begin assessing the current knowledge base and level of understanding so I can have a good idea of where to start. From there we will work together and I will adapt my teaching style according to how the student best assimilates knowledge. I take pride in being adaptable and flexible.
