The student was very enthusiastic today and worked hard to be attentive. She did well on her math minutes, and her main issue is missing problems she does not see. We worked on some multiplication review today. We also worked on rounding money with dollars and cents, because she did not know what decimals are. Using dollars and cents was a good introduction because she was able to understand and apply rounding rules to the decimals. We also did multiplication facts, which she is improving on. She still needs to count some figures on her fingers, but that is not a major concern.

We went over the last practice exam that he took prior to our session, which he scored a 490 on. During today's session, we discussed test taking strategies going forward. He raised concerns that because he has been constantly scoring a 490 on his previous practice test, that he does not feel ready to take his real exam during the month of September. After lengthy discussion, I advised him that postponing his exam and his application to be the best course of action. In the practice test that we went over, he missed many entry-level content questions that he should have answered correctly, prompting red flags and stronger support for the notion that he should postpone his exam date. The student says he will decide in the coming week while somewhat agreeing with my recommendation.
