I am a forward thinking educator who wants to change the way the biological sciences are taught to students, particularly in the secondary and higher education levels of instruction. I strive to teach biology in a manner that combines both expository and inquiry-based teaching with the ultimate goal of not only providing knowledge to students, but more importantly, provoking an intrinsic passion for the beautiful subject.

I'm a professional engineer by day and tutor, well, all the time. My day job requires me to interact daily with non-engineers and to constantly recall my schooling. Consequently, I love to explain facts in an understandable and interesting way. Many people have told me that I am a natural teacher because I am a natural learner. My profession and education as an engineer challenges me to learn new things every day and to figure out how things work.

I am a 2005 graduate of Vassar College (Bachelor's) and 2009 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University (Master's). I have taught English Language and Literature for five years in both NYC public schools and a private academy in New Jersey. As a tutor, I have worked with high school students in the Bronx and suburban New Jersey on reading and math skills.

I am currently a rising 4th-year medical student. I have my B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience, and an M.S. in Biomedical Sciences. I have experience tutoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I spent a year teaching math and science for a non-profit organization so I have experience with younger age groups as well. I am a big supporter of metacognition. It can be defined as "thinking about thinking." Good readers use metacognitive strategies to think about and have control over their reading. Graphic and semantic organizers are also effective. Answering and generating questions.
