I am an undergrad student at Agnes Scott college, currently pursuing bachelors in neuroscience and biomedical engineering. I grew up in a STEM focused household, and though I've always been inclined in those fields I've also always loved making art in whatever way I can.

I'm an engineer with tutoring experience ready to help students of all ages in a variety of math subjects, as well as with standardized testing needs. Being an engineer means that I'm a problem-solver, and that I need to be able to adapt to a variety of situations. I apply that skill to my tutoring: every student is different, and I adapt my teaching methods to those differences.
I am not working with students, you could find me: in the kitchen, cooking foods from around the world (with names I can hardly pronounce); in front of the computer, playing video games and listening to music; or outside, hiking/gardening/swimming/reading on a hammock (weather permitting!) I love learning new languages and studying new subjects.
I am very passionate about translating the knowledge gained in various STEM subjects into enthusiasm by others for learning through facilitated techniques.
I am not studying or reading for personal enjoyment, I am often either writing or sharing rich conversation. Having specialized in philosophy of art, I have a passion for music and visual art and am enlivened by the artistic culture of Oklahoma City.
The LSAT tests a specific set of reasoning and reading skills that respond well to disciplined practice — and Rachel's background in historical analysis at Columbia maps directly onto the exam's demand for close reading and argument evaluation. She builds a section-by-section strategy covering logical reasoning, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning so students know exactly what to prioritize. Her own 35 ACT demonstrates the kind of standardized test fluency she brings to prep.
I am also an academic life coach and advisor, as well as a graduate programs administrator. I love to write and have been published both under my own name and under a handful of other pen names. I regularly present to my local professional organizations on topics regarding student success, particularly at the graduate level.
I am fluent in both Chinese and English. Since I grew up in China, I have a Chinese cultural background which I intend to incorporate into my lessons. I took the AP Chinese exam and am very familiar with the test. I have tutored the Chinese 4 class in my high school in the past few years and I am confident to tutor any high school level Chinese.
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Score improvement depends on your starting point and study commitment, but most students see meaningful gains with personalized instruction. Many students improve by 5-10 points or more when they work with a tutor to identify weak areas and develop targeted strategies. The key is consistent practice combined with expert feedback on your reasoning and pacing—tutors help you avoid wasting time on ineffective study methods.
Your first session focuses on understanding where you stand and what you need. A tutor will likely review your diagnostic test results, discuss your target score and law school goals, and identify which sections (Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, or Logic Games) need the most work. This assessment helps create a personalized study plan tailored to your strengths and weaknesses.
Logic Games require a specific skill set that doesn't come naturally to most test-takers—you need to visualize complex relationships quickly and accurately under time pressure. A tutor can teach you proven diagramming techniques, help you recognize game patterns, and build your speed through targeted practice. With expert guidance, many students transform Logic Games from their weakest section into a source of confidence.
Pacing is critical because the LSAT is a timed test where rushing leads to careless errors and skipping questions you could answer. A tutor helps you develop a personalized pacing strategy based on your reading speed and section strengths—for example, you might spend more time on Logic Games and move faster through easier Logical Reasoning questions. Practice tests with timed conditions are essential for building this skill.
Most students benefit from taking 15-20 full practice tests as part of their LSAT preparation, spaced throughout your study timeline. Practice tests serve two purposes: they build your stamina and test-taking confidence, and they provide data about which question types and sections need more work. A tutor can help you analyze your practice test results strategically so you're not just taking tests but learning from every mistake.
Test anxiety often stems from uncertainty about the material or feeling unprepared—working with a tutor builds genuine confidence by ensuring you understand every question type and have a solid strategy. Tutors also help you practice under realistic test conditions repeatedly, which reduces anxiety through familiarity. Additionally, they can teach you mental techniques for staying focused when you encounter a difficult section.
Most students benefit from 2-4 months of consistent LSAT preparation, though the right timeline depends on your starting score and target score. If you're aiming for a significant improvement, a longer study period allows for deeper learning and more practice tests. A tutor can help you create a realistic study schedule that fits your life and ensures you're making steady progress toward your goal.
Reading Comprehension requires active reading and strategic note-taking to identify main ideas, author tone, and argument structure—skills that can be taught and refined. Many students struggle because they read too slowly or miss the logical relationships between ideas. A tutor teaches you efficient reading techniques and question-type strategies so you can tackle passages confidently and accurately within the time limit.
