I am a student at Yale University and am pursuing a B.A. in Economics. I have experience tutoring various levels of math and am very passionate about furthering the understanding of students in this subject. I also have a lot of test taking strategies that I have implemented in my own academic life and the practical experience of successfully taking many standardized tests which makes me a great resource for the ACT and SAT.

I'm a start-up consultant. I've always enjoyed teaching, however, that's why I like tutoring. I've a teaching assistant many times over, both in undergrad and grad school. I'm Czarina Alfonso, a junior at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. In high school, I was a honors student with membership in the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society and Math Honor Society. I was also a member of my school's Diversity Council and president of the medical club. Since I'm currently a chemistry major/premed student, I have lots of experience with STEM related courses (AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Calculus, AP Statistics). I've also taken both AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature. In addition to my AP course load in high school, I also studied for multiple SAT subject tests (Bio 790, Math 2 770, Chem 770) and the SAT (770M, 770ERW). Outside of academics, I did lots of volunteer work (founded nonprofit called Give It a Shot that raises money to provide pneumonia vaccines to daycare aged children in the Philippines, worked at local hospital, peer tutored at school) and played a sport (fencing) at a national level. For the last few years, I have been helping students with college application and test prep help, such as college essays, common app, and SAT/Subject SATs. I came from a high school where these resources for college and SAT prep were not as readily available, so I want to work towards making college more accessible by helping students with their application. My current favorite subject is General Chemistry, but my favorite changes every so often. I am most passionate about history, but I really enjoy math and writing too. I've been working extensively in educational settings for the past two years, working as a middle school TA and after school program academic classroom director/tutor. In my free time, I love having conversations with my friends and students, reading, dancing, listening to music, and hanging out with my younger sisters. My mission is to work my hardest to make learning and tutoring truly fun, so that it doesn't feel like a chore or obligation for anyone. I transferred to Yale from Raritan Valley Community College, where I earned a double AA in English and Liberal Arts-Theater, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA, was the English Department's student of the year, and served as Executive Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa, for which position I earned an award.
