I am currently a graduate student at NYU pursuing my Master's degree in Psychology. Before moving to New York, I completed my undergraduate degree at Stevenson University in Baltimore. During this time, I worked as a peer tutor for three and a half years, covering subjects such as math, writing skills, and psychology. As a dedicated tutor with a strong foundation in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, I have a passion for teaching complex subjects like Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics. Although my formal tutoring experience is limited, I have actively helped peers understand challenging material throughout my academic journey. My approach centers on identifying students' specific areas of confusion and building from there, fostering a supportive environment where they can thrive. I am a fan of the "Pomodoro Technique," which uses a timer to split each half hour of the session into a 25 minute work period followed by a 5 minute break. I am a fourth-year medical student at a U.S. MD program with plans to pursue a career in cardiology. I am passionate about working with learners and helping them reach their academic goals. My strengths include standardized test preparation for the ACT, MCAT, and USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, as well as core subjects such as medicine, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, psychology, etc. In addition, I have extensive experience helping students craft compelling essays for college and medical school applications. I have taught Government and Economic classes ranging from AP to ELL level; Special Education Math and Language Arts; Algebra I and II; Literature; Written Expression; Language Arts; and interesting electives such as Psychology and Robotics! I have extensive experience teaching SAT prep and assessing SAT exams. My experiences in both rural areas metropolitan areas make me a well-rounded teacher. While I am happy and able to tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about Test Prep because these scores are very important to students, and I enjoy helping them to conquer the test and succeed. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.
