I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Mathematics Education through Northern Arizona University. Of course I love to teach math, especially to those students that have a history of hating it, but English is also a great passion and strength of mine. Outside of teaching, I am the sponsor of my school's Korean Club, I coach the varsity pom team, I choreograph the school musicals, and I am a member of a small dance company, so I have a high respect for the arts as well. I am currently a graduate student at NYU pursuing my Master's degree in Psychology. Before moving to New York, I completed my undergraduate degree at Stevenson University in Baltimore. During this time, I worked as a peer tutor for three and a half years, covering subjects such as math, writing skills, and psychology. While at Stevenson I also helped to pilot a program that worked with at risk students to strengthen their study skills and motivation. Hobbies: books, music, art, reading, writing

I am looking at their work 'from the outside' and can therefore see where they have improved whereas the student might see their struggles more clearly than their progress. I also believe and emphasize that learning is an ongoing process, and academic skills don't come naturally to most people - they are skills which require practice over time. With a subject like Spanish, I try to relate to the student's struggles by talking about issues that I found difficult as well.

I have taught Government and Economic classes ranging from AP to ELL level; Special Education Math and Language Arts; Algebra I and II; Literature; Written Expression; Language Arts; and interesting electives such as Psychology and Robotics! I have extensive experience teaching SAT prep and assessing SAT exams. My experiences in both rural areas metropolitan areas make me a well-rounded teacher. I have considerable experience in on-line tutoring and teaching. As a dedicated tutor with a strong foundation in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, I have a passion for teaching complex subjects like Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics. Although my formal tutoring experience is limited, I have actively helped peers understand challenging material throughout my academic journey. My approach centers on identifying students' specific areas of confusion and building from there, fostering a supportive environment where they can thrive. I believe that teaching is most effective when students engage with the material actively, and I strive to make learning enjoyable and approachable. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.
