I am a current student at Yale University pursuing a degree in English. Since I was little, writing and storytelling has been one of my biggest passions. Though back then, I often told stories to my friends and family as though they were truth, once they helped me find the page I've had much, much more success. I have been tutoring kids since I was in high school, but I've also spent many hours working with kids on the baseball diamond as a coach, as well as as a camp counselor. My philosophy is that I know how hard and difficult (and sometimes annoying) high school English and History classes can be, and my goal is to try and bring a little fun back into the material while making sure we do what it takes to master your craft as a budding young writer, whether in a rhetorical analysis of Pride and Prejudice or in your CommonApp personal essay.

I am a current (though almost graduated) student in Chemical Engineering at Georgia Tech. I absolutely love teaching and tutoring, and I have 3 years experience tutoring and just over a year's experience in being a teacher's assistant. I am passionate about math and science, and I love helping people understand new material. Learning is something I have always loved, and I want to share that passion with others.

I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.

I am a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History. I recently received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began my career as an attorney. I am passionate about continuing my work in education through tutoring. I enjoy tutoring many subjects, particularly History, SAT Reading and Writing, College Essays, and Spanish. I love assisting students in implementing simple but effective changes in their preparation for Standardized Tests that show immediate results. I find this motivates students to continue through struggles in their educational pursuits. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, running, cooking, traveling and playing the cello.

I'm currently a PhD student in economics at Yale University. I also have a BS in physics and math from Yale. Other subjects I enjoy are history, geography, and philosophy, and I dabble in photography and baking. I enjoy helping people understand tricky concepts and solve challenging problems, academic and otherwise.

I am also available to tutor for the SAT and ACT. I love passing on the little tips and tricks I have learned through the years, not only for the math sections but also the reading and writing portions. As an avid reader in my downtime and having done a lot of critical reading for my scientific career, I have mastered various strategies for analytical reading that I love passing on.

I am an aspiring physician, I believe that there are many parallels between the two fields of medicine and education that would enable me to provide a unique and meaningful perspective to the classroom. Medicine demands effective education through teaching patients and their families about specific treatments, the manifestation of certain diseases, and the mechanisms of infection within specific physiological pathways. I truly began to appreciate this after interacting with my own pediatrician, who had built her own clinic from the ground-up using her knowledge, the power of education, and the strength of connection. Concerned parents entered the visiting room with coughing and crying parents and emerged with their worries assuaged and feeling more empowered knowing how to take care of their child. This considered, it is vital for every physician to become properly trained to handle these responsibilities: to be effective communicators and leaders, to dissect complex concepts into manageable chunks, and to serve as beacons of support to those seeking his or her support. This is why I want to become an educator before I embark on my medical school journey because I know that, without valuing this integral yet often disregarded facet of medicine, I will not be able to provide the best care possible to my patients. Diagnosis demands more than medicine - it requires care, attention and compassion. These skills, although may be taught in tandem with classroom lectures, can be more fully appreciated through connection and service. This is why I hope to become a Varsity Tutor in the near future: to help build connections with students through service and education as well as foster a passion for learning and academic leadership both in and out of the classroom.

I'm a recent graduate of the California Institute of Technology in Economics and Computer Science. I was also accepted at Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Stanford. I have a broad range of interests spanning science, math, engineering, social science, the humanities, the arts, and athletics (I also played on the Caltech basketball team). My background allows me to tutor general college prep, especially the SAT, ACT and the GRE. I love to teach analytical thinking, ranging from advanced Math and Physics to strategies for understanding literature and developing arguments.

I am a rising junior at Princeton University pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy with a certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning. I am highly passionate about education: during the academic year, I serve as a volunteer tutor for the Petey Greene Program, which provides educational assistance to those incarcerated in New Jersey prisons; after graduation, I hope to work toward becoming a high school mathematics teacher. This summer, I am interning part-time at IntegrateNYC4me, a nonprofit that seeks to integrate New York schools. I am an undergraduate student at Harvard University! I am studying history and linguistics, and plan to teach English abroad for a few years post-graduation. I'm Solange - a recent graduate from Harvard where I studied Sociology & Women's Studies. I am a 2015 graduate of Northwestern University, with an undergraduate journalism major/Spanish minor and a graduate degree in journalism. During my time at NU, I spent a semester at Madrid's top-ranked university, taking upper-level history and literature courses with Spanish students. I now work at a trade magazine in Midtown covering real estate.
