Hey guys!I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with degrees in Math and German, and will be pursuing a masters in Statistics at the University of Chicago beginning Fall 2017.I've tutored on and off since my senior year of high school, both at the middle school and high school levels, but in particular I'm looking forward to helping college students improve their GRE scores. I would of course be happy to discuss any middle school/high school/undergrad level math questions anyone may have!

I have graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Chemistry and often helped other students with subjects that were easy for me. I know it can be frustrating for students so helping them understand their subjects and gain confidence is what makes me like to tutor. I have also been a volunteer mentor/tutor here in Atlanta since I graduated college and look forward to helping more students. When I tutor, I am careful not to do the work for the student, I help fix problem areas and guide the student to the right answer. Learning can be difficult but I want to take the frustration out of learning.

Reflecting on my educational experiences, I realize what a great impact teachers and mentors can have on students and the difference they can make in their lives. When I was in elementary school, I was struggling with 3rd grade math and science. It was frustrating because no matter how much I tried I just could not solve the problems. At times I felt like giving up. It was then that my aunt introduced me to a private tutor who worked patiently and enthusiastically to help me understand the concepts and find solutions to those hard questions. Within weeks my grades improved and I started loving math and science. In high school I took AP level English, science and math classes which further lead me to major in Biology.I am a certified live and online tutor based in Houston, TX. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in English/Biology/Pre-med after which I decided to pursue a career in medicine. I spent two years in the Caribbean finishing my basic sciences and the remaining two years in the United States (New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Washington, DC) completing my clinical rotations in various hospitals. I graduated with a M.D. degree from the American university of Antigua and will be starting residency training next year. In the couple of years between my Undergraduate and medical schools studies, I worked as a substitute teacher for elementary, middle and high school students. While in medical school, I was a Teaching Assistant for Anatomy and Physiology. Therefore, I have experience working with students of all age groups. I really enjoy teaching and my passion and enthusiasm for it will make a good tutor.

I recently retired from the US Army after 17 years as an analyst and adviser on Northeast Asian policy. I hold a BA in Japanese Language and Government/International Relations from Notre Dame, an MA in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii, and am currently working on PhD in Japanese History at Princeton University.Over my time in the Army, I worked in 4 different countries with partners from over 20 different nations, both military and civilian. I spent 7 years in Japan working as a liaison, policy adviser, and sometime interpreter/translator. However, the job I enjoyed most was as the chief of a team training Army units preparing to conduct joint exercises with Asia-Pacific partners. I really enjoyed teaching and sharing my experiences in order to prepare soldiers to succeed and bring the same enthusiasm to tutoring.The best way to remember something is to have it practically apply to you--I try to bring out the "so what" in every subject to help students understand why it is important. As a tutor for the past 3 years, 3/4 of my students in AP European History and AP American History have scored 5s on the AP exam.

I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I have a B.S. in Physics and this summer I will begin working towards a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering at UT Arlington. I have always enjoyed learning about subjects in math and science, and I have always enjoyed teaching them to others as well. I tutored for the math and physics departments throughout my time at the university, and in my senior year I assisted with the laboratory and recitation period for a pre-med Introduction to Physics course. I have always found it important to understand why a particular theory or method works, not simply how it is used, and I try to impart that understanding on all of the students I tutor. In my spare time, I enjoy reading about new developments in science and technology, tinkering with electronics projects, and playing music.

In my free time I play basketball, listen to music, write programs, and watch movies with my friends. I specialize in math and science of all kinds, I really love teaching biology, chemistry, and physics. I also can prepare students for the ACT. As a sophomore I have already taken physics, calculus, biology, intro chemistry, and organic chemistry. I believe I am able to break down very complex ideas to make any subject much easier to learn. Humanities and STEM not only coexist, but work together often in life. While STEM provides the foundation for the future, humanities contributes to how it is used to advance humanity as a whole. I love biology, chemistry, and computers. It is so cool to see how all these tiny minute parts of the world interact to create you, me, and everything we touch. On the other hand, history is cool to see how societies interacted to create the present world. The past is never separate from us, but always influencing everything from the various countries to cities to the tiny villages all over the world. The world is a combination of all of this and it is my passion to understand the world. Other than just about education and information, I love teaching other people about stuff. I enjoy teaching all my friends some stuff, in return they teach me other stuff. Contrary to popular opinion, teaching is a two way street.
