About Me

Teaching has always been a passion of mine and my real world musical experiences gives me a unique perspective which is a huge advantage to my students. I have spent over 20 years playing guitar on Broadway and London's West End performing/musical directing in some of the biggest hit shows like JERSEY BOYS, SCHOOL OF ROCK, BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY and DEAR EVAN HANSEN and played with a variety of artistes and bands like Eartha Kitt, Britney Spears, Meatloaf and Il Divo. I am a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music in London where I received my GRSM (hons) degree and postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Guitar Performance. Prior to this I received my teaching diploma (LLCM - TD) through The London College of Music. I have been teaching guitar, composition and music theory for over 30 years to kids of all ages from 5 to 95 in schools, colleges and universities. I also maintain a roster of private students both in-person and online. Originally from the Highlands of Scotland, I have released albums of Celtic and original music which you can find on Spotify and Apple etc. Many of my compositions are licensed to Production libraries for use in TV/Film and other media. I teach guitar, ukulele and bass in all styles from classical to rock, in a fun and engaging way. I create an environment that fosters a love of music in a calm and patient manner where you will gain skills and knowledge that will last you a lifetime. I also teach music theory, composition and recording techniques using Logic Pro X and Cubase Pro as well as music scoring software Dorico and Sibelius. As a teacher, I never tire of that magical moment when a student realizes they can finally play a piece of music they always dreamed of. I motivate my pupils to express themselves through their music, enabling their confidence to flourish which spills into other areas of their lives.
