After I received my Master's degree in Financial Engineering I worked in the financial field for more than five years. It was very interesting and exciting. I was single and I enjoyed working those long and stressful hours.I moved on with my life and decided to have a family, which has been one of the best journeys in my life. I have been thinking about changing my path and beginning to teach.One day I woke up and went to the college that I admired. After multiple meetings and interviews I got hired.Teaching my first class was nerve racking but yet rewarding.I love what I do. I feel that I make a difference in my students' lives and they influence mine, too. They keep me motivated. Teaching is a noble field and I am proud to be part of it.

I am a current Game Design Major at the University of Central Florida, with a minor in Creative Writing and certificate in German language. I was very involved in my high school's honor societies and band program, and through these have taught many students, be it in music or academics. I have also worked as a Graphic Designer, both for volunteer work as well as paid gigs, and have proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator. Likewise, I have studied writing since high school and was the Editor-in-Chief for Valencia College's Phoenix Magazine, in which I wrote, edited, and revised work. I have often used the above opportunities to mentor people before, and find it exciting to pass on whatever tips and tricks I've learned along the way, as well as bond with others in a shared subject.

I became interested in grammar and literature particularly, because it is fascinating to get into. So many different words to describe life, and so many stories to delve into! When I was a teenager, a good number of my poems, stories and essays were published professionally. I was also one of the five finalists of the Profile in Courage essay competition for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in 2009.While theatre is my dream and career, I decided to become a tutor so I could help others who needed assistance with something that was just fun for me. Practicing for my own PSATs and SATs, watching my scores (practice and real) go up and up gave me a satisfaction that its almost indescribable. Helping people reach their own goals, and seeing them succeed is really important for me.My approach is more relaxed, because learning should always be fun. I believe in practice making close to perfect, and repetition is key. The easiest way to remember something is writing it down a time or two. It works with all subjects, and it forces your attention to be on what you're doing in the moment.I got into some of the top schools in the country, but ultimately decided on Catholic University of America because it had the best Musical Theatre program, which was the most important part of choosing a college in my view. With a degree in theatre, Shakespeare and other such play analysis is just about second nature to me. When I was in High School, I was in Honors and Advanced English throughout my time (AP Language and Literature), and got 5's on both exams. Also, when I took the SAT (back when the writing portion was required), I never got less than a perfect score on my essay. Once I got to college, I decided to be a peer advisor/editor for papers to earn a little money while in school. Once my school work got too crazy, I stopped, but I helped a lot of papers turn from Cs and Ds in the rough draft portion to As and Bs.

I have spent a majority of my life within an academic environment. Along the way I have acquired a BSBA in Finance and Marketing, a Juris Doctorate, and a Masters in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Management. I have worked with several banks ranging from investment to commercial. I have studied financial compliance. I have passed the Florida Bar Examination.I believe in tailoring academia to a specific student(s) needs, strengths, weaknesses, and requirements. Each subject is different, and no two students are alike. Mastering subject matter can be accomplished in several formats, not simply the most commonly used method. A strong foundation and thorough understanding of basic concepts permits the creation of an efficient pathway to more complicated material that can be easily comprehended at each stage.I have recently stepped away from the private sector in an effort to give back to the community that gave so much to me. I volunteer regularly at various organizations. I teach yoga. No one in my household had a formal education but they always encouraged us to study. When I go back home, I am reminded that education took me out of a tough area and saved me from the hustler game. Currently, my dreams and my goals far outshine those of my neighborhood peers.Education is the key to all of my progress. I've seen firsthand how education improves lives.I was living in Buenos Aires when I met a young woman that needed to pass a professional English exam because she had failed it six times before meeting me and needed to pass it in order to graduate from her university. After working together with her, she finally passed. She was really happy but I was thrilled! It was my first time teaching and I was able to change someone's life for the better. I fell in love with teaching at that very moment. I continued teaching her university friends until I had to move. Each of my students passed. This experience helped me to realize that I need to give back to education as education allowed me to do so much. A lot of people helped me along the way as I went from preschool all the way through to law school graduation.One of the main things that helped me to teach this population is the fact that I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish. The ability to speak more than 1 language opens up a whole new world. You get to experience new songs and dances, new friends, conversations for fun or for work, the ability to help others that struggle in one of your languages. The opportunities are immeasurable!In my opinion, the best way to get noticeably positive results is to push students just the right amount. If they are pushed too much, you might turn them away.If you do not push them, however, the results can include a loss of interest, a lack of effort, less learning, and you might create bad study habits.There are benefits to pushing students. It encourages them to be more studious, knowledgeable and curious. If you can learn to learn then you will gain information and therefore become more intellectual.
