I am a recent graduate of Cornell University, where I received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Over the past several years, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds and experiences tutoring thermodynamics (my personal favorite), chemistry, and math. I have also tutored in the past for ACT/SAT and other subjects such as history, but I am deeply passionate about science and engineering. I tend to push my students to understand conceptual topics, as opposed to rote or algorithmic learning. In my free time, I love to bake sourdough, learn about history, garden, and recently started biking again.

I am excited to be tutoring. In my experience teaching, I have learned that empowerment in a subject is a combination of efficient guidance from me and a willingness to improve from my students. By signing up for tutoring, students are already taking the first step to mastering whatever areas in which they may be having difficulty. I won't do all the work for my students but I will never leave them to figure out everything by themselves, as that defeats the purpose of a tutor. I will constantly assess understanding during the learning process, thus gradually giving my students the confidence that they have moved into deeper understanding of material. If you have any questions or inquiries about the college process, selecting a major, or Vanderbilt University, I am happy to answer your questions. Currently, I am looking to obtain a Masters degree and am applying to such programs. I tutor children on a weekly basis at my local church from ages of 8 to 14 on an assortment of subjects. I understand that there are different learning styles and I try to find the right approach for each different student.

I'm in the process of applying to Master's programs for marine biology. I've been a motivated and committed student for the past 15+ years and I'm excited to bring my knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for learning and teaching to all of my tutoring sessions. Although I majored in Biology at Duke, I got a minor in Classical Studies - or ancient Greece and Rome - so I have a pretty diverse educational background. In addition to my studies in college, I was DUMB (a proud member of the Duke University Marching Band) and I conducted research on Hawaiian monk seals. In the future, I hope to participate in more field work with marine mammals and eventually become a professor, so I look forward to incorporating tutoring into my educational track!

I am a Gates Cambridge Scholar and recently completed my MPhil in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge. This fall, I will begin my legal education at Yale Law School. I believe that my achievement on the LSAT and in the law school application process, as well as my two years’ worth of part-time tutoring experience, have enabled me to help others successfully navigate the process of preparing for a legal education. I've found that STEM courses are intimidating to many students, and I hope to get rid of that fear and promote an appreciation for numbers and the sciences. I just graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor's degree in neuroscience and Russian. During my time in high school and college, I tutored in a volunteer capacity on a wide range of subjects, from English and essay editing to calculus to ACT prep. I am hoping to spend the next year traveling (I am currently living in Bucharest, Romania!) before applying to medical school. During the week, I work in the Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization where I work with Vanderbilt researchers to take their inventions to industry. I pride myself in teaching critical thinking and decision making skills that cultivate a real world experience in my classroom to best prepare students for life after academia. I have an undergraduate and master's degree in engineering, and changed career paths into teaching because of my love for inspiring and mentoring kids. I am pursuing a graduate degree in education administration with the goal of becoming a principal so I can build stronger urban schools with better resources and implement instructional strategies geared towards disadvantaged youth.

I am currently a student at Otterbein University, working towards my teaching certificate for high school science. I've tutored over 40 students in General and AP Chemistry. I love tutoring because it gives me the chance to provide individualized attention and support to students.
