Hi! I'm currently pursuing a second degree in computer science at UNC Charlotte. I graduated from Furman University in 2012 with a BA in Music and I'm looking forward to starting a new career. For high school, I attended Bergen County Academies and completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program as part of the Academy for Business and Finance. I have a vast amount of experience tutoring different subject material to different age groups, with a specialty in test prep. I tutored a high school freshman in Algebra 2 for a year (helping her get an A), a rising high school senior for the ACT (boosting his initial score by 25%), and groups of high schoolers for SAT prep. I have also worked with younger age groups as a camp counselor and a tutor at an elementary school near my university. I love tutoring because it gives me the chance to help my students reach their academic goals, which I know they care about deeply. My favorite topics to tutor are English and Math, and I bring a fun, model-based approach to my work with students. I am pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am passionate about tutoring because I believe that I could create a great impact on younger students by providing them with the knowledge I have gained throughout my academic school years. I tutor middle school and rising high school students on topics like algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Mathematics is my favorite subject to teach because I have a good grasp of all math concepts and I believe I can enrich the knowledge of younger students with my experience. I thoroughly work with students and go step-by-step to guarantee that the student is fully understanding the topic of interest. I graduated, cum laude, from Rowan University in 2013 with my BA in English. During this time, I served as a NJ certified substitute teacher. I explored varied career options: manuscript editing for SLACKinc medical publishers, freelance writing for Philadelphia's Headspace magazine, and tutoring privately in English composition. Teaching became a true passion of mine while I was becoming certified to teach English as a foreign language during several weeks in Cusco, Peru. After which, I came back to the States in pursuit of my Master's degree in subject matter education and my NJ standard teaching certificate. When I am not working towards this goal, I am painting, reading, or traveling. I spend much of my spare time on my yoga mat in order to stay in shape for summer hiking trails. I am an avid hiker and backpack traveler and believe in the value of a healthy body and mind. Yoga, in particular, has assisted me in pushing boundaries, cultivating a positive outlook, and maintaining a sense of self-discipline. These are values that would aid any student.

I'm a first-year medical student and recent graduate from Duke University, where I studied Global Health Determinants, Behaviors, and Interventions. From running a piano program at a nonprofit children's theatre to private tutoring in math, science, and standardized test prep, I enjoy helping my students become confident and self-sufficient learners!
