Session Summaries by Tutors

Tutoring review by Jackson in Westmore, UT
After doing a general review of the math portion of the test last week, today we hunkered down and focused on algebra, negative numbers and the distributive property. I had the student do a series of problems with increasing complexity to determine where his problem areas were. By the end of the session, he was much more comfortable, but he still had a little trouble with division in algebra problems. Next week, we are going to go over some word problems, then begin our focus on the writing section of the test.

Tutoring review by Charles in Westmore, UT
We went over acid-base chemistry, Henderson-Hasselbalch equation, Buffers & titration curves, as well as the characteristics of amino acids, including the isoelectric constants. We went through the notes together, but my goal is for the material to be reviewed slightly more before the tutorial sessions in order to have a Q&A session/analyzing problem sets.

Tutoring review by Keturah in Westmore, UT
I met with the student, and we discussed proofs and congruent angles in geometry. The student didn't have too many struggles just on a few problems on proofs and the concepts of congruent angles. She was very excited that she understood the concepts after we finished up the session. Since she had a great foundation of the material, she also had homework problems that she was working on so no need to assign extra. She mentioned her quiz is every Friday. I believe this Friday she will be well prepared for her geometry concepts.

We worked on graphing linear equations. We did this from standard form, point-slope form, and slope-intercept form. We also practiced some tough balancing equations in chemistry. The student is starting to become pretty comfortable with both of these topics.
