As an example, if you sign up for weekly sessions throughout the term instead of only a few sessions of LSAT test prep, you may pay a lower rate per session. As many factors play a role in impacting the final rate, it's always a good idea to speak with one of our Educational Directors about your needs so we can give you a more accurate quote.

Which tutoring subjects does Varsity Tutors offer for students in Walnut Creek?

A private teacher in California can help you learn a new language, such as Chinese, or you can prepare for an exam like the MCAT or even the bar exam. Tutoring review by Scott in Walnut Creek, CA
We immediately started on math homework, the focus of which dealt with probability and fractions. He was actually very capable in this subject, a lot of the homework and past assignments seemed to have been overlooked due to a lack of interest, not lack of ability. He seemed eager to just complete a problem by fishing for answers, but when he slowed down, it came quite easily. I suggested some arithmetic shortcuts and multiplication tricks. We finally discussed his interests, and I hope to be able to find an outside field to which we can apply his current math study, likely sports or travel. Study skills, science, and some language arts will be other topics where help may be needed.

We reviewed the different types of angles, including alternate interior, alternate exterior, same side interior, and same side exterior. I demonstrated by drawing the letter z, both forwards and reverse. The angles formed at the corner were alternate interior angles. I suggested to the student that he look for the z shape when looking for alternate interior angles. We also covered the midpoint formula to find the midpoint between two points on a Cartesian plane. Averaging the x and y coordinates gave us the coordinates for the midpoint of a line segment. The student was eager to learn the material.

Tutoring review by Adrian in Walnut Creek, CA
We have specifically gone over the sum/difference formulas, half-angle formulas, etc., and how to apply them to practice problems. The student was able to understand the directions, but has a difficult time utilizing the new tools he learned in reaching the goal of those directions. I gave him some experiences I learned when tackling these types of problems in order for him to improve his skills on effectively utilizing these formulas over time. Overall, the session was excellent.
