Tutoring review by Tom in San Rafael, CA
More organization for the historical fiction paper, plus filling out a prep worksheet for a report based on primary sources on Cesar Chavez. Concerns as to the ultimate completion of all language arts/social study projects by the end of the year discussed w/parents. The student seems to be much more comfortable operating at his own pace, and is excellent at completing ideas orally. I've suggested that he practice by writing 10-15 minutes every day without worrying about whether or not it's on topic, to get comfortable with writing within a time limit.

His assignment was to practice with the outlines that we discussed and continue with his vocabulary building exercises.

Tutoring review by Drew in San Rafael, CA
The client and I decided that an electronic tutoring session would be the best way to initiate work on her essays; because she had already completed a first draft, it was her request that I take my time to critique her writing. I wrote up a two page critique for both of her essays. Generally speaking, all of the ingredients for an exceptional essay were present, but her organization was troublesome. I gave her concrete suggestions on how to reorganize her essay to make them more effective. After she is done revising on a holistic scale, she will return her essay to me for sentence-level editing.

Tutoring review by Darby in San Rafael, CA
Today we worked on organization for the first ten minutes, then focused entirely on the student's first lab report for Life Sciences. We went over basic scientific terms, tone, verbiage, and the entire concept of a lab report. Lab reports will become much more commonplace in his life as he advances through school, so it's important that he learn how to do them correctly and efficiently. As today's session proved, he's well on the way.
