I have tutored and taught students for the past five years in a variety of subjects in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, Australia. I currently tutor in SAT writing and verbal preparation, essay writing skills, English, and Literature. My favorite subjects to tutor are definitely those that involve writing, because they provide fantastic opportunities for students to express their creativity. Additionally, I see no value in simply telling a student that they are wrong, or that they are incorrect. Growing up in Westchester County, New York I began tutoring elementary and middle school students at my local JCC in a multitude of subjects. Specifically, I taught at the Northern Warfare Training Center in Alaska, the 101st Airborne Division Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, I was a Drill Sergeant at the Infantry School and my final assignment, I was the Senior Military Instructor at the University of Maryland (College Park).As a civilian, I have worked as a substitute teacher for Kelly Educational Services, I taught 6th grade social studies in the Colonial School District in Delaware, substituted in Escondido Union School District (language arts), and I am currently an active teacher at a charter school where I teach elementary classes as well as middle and high school social studies.Teaching is more than just instruction. It was a very enjoyable experience in which I was able to help students broaden their knowledge and skills to succeed in the class and their future classes.
