Tutoring review by Peter in Raymore, MO
The student and I went over each one of his school subjects to see what sorts of things they are starting out the semester with. We talked about the Pythagorean Theorem for mathematics, and briefly discussed the following day's class discussion about ratios and proportions. We talked about the book that he has chosen for his reading assignment. We did a writing prompt about the sights and sounds of a carnival in which I asked him to try to be as descriptive as possible with his writing. We finished by discussing the classwork he is doing in history class about human rights and dictators.

During this session, we reviewed area and circumference of circles and finding volumes of rectangular prisms and pyramids. She did much better this session and she answered most questions quickly and correctly, and she better understood the formulas and how to use them. I was very encouraged by this session and thought she did very well.

Concepts we worked on today included finding the surface area of cylinders and cones. Specifically, we worked on finding the lateral areas of cylinders and cones and applying the formulas to solve the equations. I provided the student a review page of the formulas with sample problems for each application. She did a great job today.
