Tutoring review by Amareen in Port Townsend, WA
We covered geological cycles and I set her up with some times to improve her as a student. She seemed happy with learning the material but I believe her excitement will grow when it is more related to animals due to her personal interests! I introduced her to the strategies we will be using during our sessions including flashcards, 24-hour calendars, fill-in-the-blank, and walking through the text. I also explained to her the importance of efficiency and making sure to understand rather than copy down notes. I believe once we get more into animal-related biology, the student will really enjoy it. She is very intelligent an picks up on new material very fast due to a good background and strong work ethic.

Tutoring review by Nimia in Port Townsend, WA
The student's school separates the year into two topics. First semester is geometry and second semester is algebra 1. We first went over her geometry homework, and then I had her do basic pre-algebra/algebra 1 timed worksheets. I also showed her faster techniques to dividing large numbers in her head and how to plot algebraic expressions.

The student and I worked on colors in Spanish by continuing where we left off in our flashcards. During this session, we made flashcards for orange, yellow, brown, black, and white, which completes our set. She had clearly studied last week's vocabulary, which showed when we reviewed last week's cards. She is very skilled at retaining vocabulary words.

Tutoring review by Allison in Port Townsend, WA
The student got an 88% on her most recent test, which was great news! Tonight we built her list of topics to study for the midterm and went over some of the topics together. We focused on periodic trends, VSEPR theory, Lewis dot structures and lastly nomenclature. We built some cheat sheets for her to work off of and I showed her the practice questions to help her study.
