I graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Biology and National University with a BS in Math. I am a retired math teacher from San Diego Unified School District where I taught primarily 6th grade through 8th grade math. I tutor lower level math to Algebra. My favorite subject to teach/tutor is Pre-Algebra since it is the gateway to the upper level math classes.I try to show the students that there is math all around them and show them how it can relate to their daily lives. When I teach and tutor, I try to make it fun and encourage them.My outside interests are photography, hiking and traveling. These interests eventually took me to Africa where I started my teaching and spent 7 1/2 years. During that time I learned the language and the culture.

I recently received my Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State. I've always loved puzzles and problem solving, so naturally math and science have always been my strong suits. As a matter of fact, Calculus was, and still is, my favorite subject. As an Engineer I am also well grounded in Physics and Chemistry. I've always been a good test-taker and I know what it takes to get the grades. I know that it can make a huge difference to have some one-on-one help. For myself, the most important attributes in my teaching ability are passion, patience, and perception. I am a graduate student at Cal State Northridge. I'm currently working on my M.S. in Molecular Biology working on cancer cells. I did my undergraduate at UCLA and was a Molecular Biology and Ecology major. I grew up in Southern California most of my life and went to a local high school in Woodland Hills, CA. I took AP courses such as AP calculus, government, biology and chemistry.I have been tutoring in various subjects including all levels of math, chemistry and organic chemistry, biology and social sciences since I was in high school. I have tutored after school programs in middle school, high school and college level courses. I have over 10 years of experience in tutoring. I enjoy learning and teaching all subjects, but if I were to choose one subject it would be biology. I love teaching math too.
