I am a former middle-school English teacher (and former high-school French teacher). I am certified to teach English (grades 6-12), History/Government/Social Studies (grades 6-12), Psychology (grades 6-12), Health (grades PreK-12), General Music (grades PreK-12), and French (grades PreK-12). I have also taught AP French and college-level French.

I am entirely committed to ensuring every one of my students break through the barriers preventing them from reaching their full potential. My process involves an individual, connected explanation of the content, discussing problem-solving strategies to make testing much easier than it seems, encouraging practice and the growth of individual learning, and making sure my style of teaching is right for my student's style of learning. Most importantly, I seek to make my students love learning as much as I do.

I'm an oldest child, which means growing up, I was the first kid to run into most challenges, and the best equipped one to teach my five younger siblings how to navigate them. Working with them and mentoring them was probably my first experience with "tutoring", and it left strong impressions on me. To help someone is to treat them like your family.

I'm currently studying to be an elementary teacher and love working with students of all ages. While studying at Tulsa, I tutored students in several subjects including, Sociology, Anthropology, and Statistics, among others. In addition, I occasionally served as a guest lecturer at the University's introductory-level Sociology courses. I offer tutoring in SAT/ACT test prep, English, Anthropology, Sociology, and Social Studies. I enjoy most working with students on writing and revising essays in any subject. When I'm tutoring, I think it is most important to talk through issues with my students and try to ascertain how they're thinking about the problems they're trying to solve. If you're thinking about the fundamentals of a problem in the correct way, any other details will fall into place fairly easily.
