I am enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering PhD program at Rice University which will begin Fall 2020, and I am hoping to return to academia as a professor after earning my PhD. In the meantime, I am looking to share my passion for gaining knowledge, specifically in STEM, by educating the up and coming members of such a great field. I have experience tutoring both Calculus and Physics at Notre Dame, as well as experience as a Student Assistant for Differential Equations and Mechanics. I believe the key to learning is much deeper than learning to solve problems and that seeking knowledge is one of the best means for personal improvement.

I am currently a senior at Washington University in St. Louis and will be attending law school next year. My areas of expertise are Political Science and Government, History, Writing, and ACT prep. I teach a weekly course to underserved youth for ACT prep and have done well personally on both the ACT and the LSAT. My philosophy is to guide you in your search to find the correct answers - not to give them to you. I am extremely goal-oriented, and I look forward to helping you achieve yours.
I am currently a first-year student at Northwestern University studying Neuroscience and Global Health. I have experience tutoring K-12 students in mathematics, ranging from teaching elementary school students how to add and subtract to helping high school students understand Calculus. I had the opportunity to work as a paid math tutor for over a year and tutored kids in math voluntarily throughout high school.
I am a medical student currently attending the 6 year BA/MD program at UMKC. My interest in both the sciences and the humanities has led me to pursue a career in medicine. My favorite subjects to learn and teach include English reading and writing, Mandarin, math, and biology. I am especially passionate about teaching English reading and writing because as someone who personally went through the process of learning English from scratch, I deeply understand the challenges involved in honing one's language skills. I hope to use the lessons I have learned from my experience to help others who are working on improving their reading and writing skills, no matter how far they are along the process. I am patient, persistent, supportive, receptive to feedback, and I always strive to adapt my tutoring style to work with each student's unique needs and expectations.
I'm a Ph.D. candidate in French Studies at UCLA finishing my dissertation about contemporary French literature. My main research specializations are French language and literature. However, I also have a certification in critical theory and conduct research in cultural studies and music history. I have taught first- and second-year French classes at UCLA for four years, and before that, I taught first-year French for 3 years at the University of Kansas.
I am reliving the process of learning that concept myself, both by explaining the concept in new ways and by seeing students wrestle with and eventually grasp the concept for themselves. For me, teaching is a way of "living vicariously" through students by experiencing the joy of learning once more.
I am Chad Bergman, a current Dartmouth student pursuing my Bachelor's in Economics with a physics minor. I have experience tutoring college economics in person on Dartmouth campus as well as online tutoring in high school calculus and physics. I've had great success on the SAT and ACT as well as my AP tests in high school, and I hope to help others succeed as well. My favorite subject to tutor is physics because I feel like learning to apply a few fundamental principles to different real world situations is extremely useful in any discipline. While tutoring I try to help students master the fundamentals so they can apply them to the material we're working on as well as future material. Outside academia, I help look after my four siblings and play more League of Legends online than is perhaps healthy.
I am a former middle-school English teacher (and former high-school French teacher). I am certified to teach English (grades 6-12), History/Government/Social Studies (grades 6-12), Psychology (grades 6-12), Health (grades PreK-12), General Music (grades PreK-12), and French (grades PreK-12). I have also taught AP French and college-level French.
I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Kansas. I am also a member of the University Honors Program, and I will be attending Notre Dame Law School in the fall. I am currently tutoring all sections of the ACT. These are my favorite subjects to tutor, as I am not very far removed from high school, but I have much experience helping clients reach their goals over the past three years. I understand the incredible impact a solid ACT score can have on the college process.
I am excited for the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion for math with the students of Varsity Tutors.
I'm currently studying to be an elementary teacher and love working with students of all ages. Working with students on a daily basis has helped me to hone in on how to tailor lessons to individual students needs. I am excited to get the opportunity to continue this work through varsity tutors!
I am a student at the University of Kansas majoring in Political Science and minoring in French. I am qualified to tutor for many AP Courses (U.S. Government, U.S. History, and French Language) in addition to ACT and further language and English tutoring. I am not far removed from these courses and tests and am therefore able to help students uniquely as I remember being in there situations.
