I have been a classroom teacher for over 10 years, mainly in secondary classrooms. However, I have experience teaching and tutoring students from ages pre-school to adult. I love seeing the "light bulb" go on for a student when they discover a new concept or read a new piece of literature.

I'm an elementary school teacher with a passion for education!I enjoy tutoring in my free time, because I love being part of the learning process. In my lessons, I try my best to make sure my students feel relaxed, confident, and eager to do their best work.

My teaching and tutoring philosophy is geared towards helping students achieve academic success. Tutoring to me means helping students acquire the skills needed to successfully and consistently pass exams.There is an important difference between reading subject material (which can often be boring), and studying subject content (which is much more likely to be dynamic). I acquired my medical diploma while residing in a foreign country, studying in a foreign language, and because of that I could not learn the material simply by reading textbooks. Instead, I learned to study in a focused, dynamic manner that allowed me to succeed both academically and professionally.I currently enjoy surfing, sailing, and other outdoor activities.

I received my BA in Sociology from Western Maryland College and my M.Ed from St. Leo University. I lived in Maryland for most of my life and will always consider myself a Marylander, even though I have lived in Florida for almost twenty years and do enjoy the warm weather here. I have over 25 years of educating students, and I consider it to be an honor. I have worked with all grades including teaching beginning reading skills to elementary students, helping hundreds of students 16 and up to earn their High School Diplomas, and assisting adult students to increase their nursing entrance exam scores. My younger students love to find out that I wear an orthotic like Winter the Dolphin did. I can only hope to be as inspiring. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my adult son who has Aspergers. We love flea markets, auctions, and comic/horror conventions.

As a certified physician assistant and avid learner myself, my passion is to help physician assistant students prepare for a fulfilling career by first successfully passing the PANCE.While the PANCE may seem like an overwhelming and daunting task, I can help streamline materials and key points to focus on, as well as provide testing "tips and tricks" in order to succeed. I will work with you as much as our schedules allow to make you feel more comfortable and confident moving forward with the exam.I graduated PA school in December 2018 and passed the PANCE in early January 2019. I have stayed up-to-date with PA course materials as I also plan to teach as a adjunct professor in the near future. I currently work as a internal medicine and rheumatology PA, and previously worked in orthopedics and cardiothoracic surgery for two years immediately following my PA certification.Prior to attending PA school, my educational journey began as an athletic training and exercise science major in my undergraduate studies. I successfully passed my athletic training board of certification exam and then began my Master's of Science in Orthopedics degree. During this time, I also passed the boards to become a certified orthopedic assistant and certified surgical first assistant.As previously mentioned, I am a lifelong learner who hopes to help others achieve their dreams by becoming a certified physician assistant; and as stress-free as possible! My approach is positive, calm, and supportive with each student, meeting them where they are, resulting in an atmosphere and relationship of trust and respect, increasing student motivation and allowing each student to make progress. I have completed 26 graduate hours in the Counselor Education program at the University of South Florida. I hold a State of Florida Department of Education Professional Educator's Certificate and am certified to teach Elementary Education (Grades 1-6), English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) (Grades K-12), English (Grades 6-12), Exceptional Student Education (Grades K-12), and Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum (Grades 5-9).

My tutoring style is very hands on. I like to follow along with the student as they do practice problems, find where they are having trouble, and focus on amending the issue. I also am very personable, as I believe students are more confident and learn better when they are comfortable with their tutor. My favorite subject to tutor is biology because it was always my favorite class and it encompasses so much of our lives from cellular functions all the way to biomes.Outside of tutoring, you can find me binging Netflix, playing video games on my computer, or wrestling with my incredibly adorable kitten, Pancake.

She is currently a fellow with The Center for Peace, Justice, and Human Rights at FAU, and her Masters is in Transatlantic Literature, with a focus on: Postcolonial Ireland - traversed through the Eco-critical lens. She is an Early American and Modernist Scholar focusing on Indigenous Religious Rhetoric, Postcolonial Studies, and Environmental Literature. She has two years of experience teaching College Composition, and a year of teaching 6th-12th grade English and History.
