Afterwards, we discussed a lesson for Module 2 on grouping. Lastly, we reviewed an assignment that consisted of 5 questions, which he did and submitted as a PDF to his teacher.

The student is definitely improving; he has good confidence in his ability to solve problems. During the last session, we worked on derivatives and implicit differentiation. There were only a few minor mistakes involving signs, but that will be solved by paying more attention.

After reviewing the homework, it seems that the student has mastered the basic exponential functions. We will still need to work on word problems and more specific graphing. We began studying logarithms today and covered a basic understanding of what they are as well as some of their properties. His homework is to convert exponential equations to logarithms and calculate logarithms.

The student and I reviewed fractions, simplifying fractions, Greatest common factors, terminology like numerator, denominator, improper fractions, proper fractions and mixed fractions. Then he worked on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. He found this way too simple, but it was a new concept so we worked through a worksheet provided with about 20 problems on it. When he completed this we worked with riddles, or word problems, where hints were given describing the correct fraction and he had to guess the correct fraction. He really enjoyed this and also did a great job!
