Tutoring review by Wesley in Azusa, CA
The student needed a review for his unit test for his Math class. The Unit covered functions, factoring, expanding, synthetic division, and transformation of functions. We completed all the algebraic parts of the review packet, and then covered how to graph transformations and he completed the rest. He had the most trouble with figuring out the factorization of certain problems. Luckily he is allowed a cheat sheet, so I had him write down little tips and shortcuts. Lastly, we reviewed end behavior for even and odd functions, and how signs affect them.

Tutoring review by Alana in Azusa, CA
We began by reviewing her status. She hopes to receive her exam back before our next meeting and will send me a copy to review. I will attempt to find patterns in her performance for us to examine during our next session. We have also discussed meeting more than once per week to improve her comprehension and retention. She will contact me this week about meeting both Friday and Sunday if it is feasible. Her knowledge of the material we are working on for the second exam is strong thus far. We discussed and practiced taking first derivatives using the product rule, the quotient rule, and the chain rule. She understood each method of taking derivatives and began to recognize when to use each one. She will practice these methods this week by doing her assigned homework problems. She will also work on implicit differentiation, so that we can discuss that at our next session.

Tutoring review by Hannah in Azusa, CA
For this session, I split the time between the two students. For the first student's session, we completed a homework assignment for language arts. After that, I had him read aloud from his chapter book for 10 minutes. For the second student, we reviewed all the notecards and notes we have been collecting over the summer, and studied new vocabulary.
