History Tutoring review by Peter in Seattle, WA
I brought a change-and-continuity-over-time essay and I had the student outline it. She had a little bit of trouble thinking about what to write, so I helped her review the appropriate chapters in her review book. After taking notes, she was able to outline the essay and form a thesis. With the remainder of the time, we completed multiple choice questions. Other than the essay, I did not leave her with any other practice, though I suggested she finish that essay.

We first went through the homework to see what the student did and did not do. Then, we covered the progressive age in terms of imperialism, effects of the age, and the politics. Economic terms like trusts and stocks were covered. We covered all the way to the end of WWI and Wilson's stroke. Next week, we will cover the 20's, WWII, the Great Depression, and hit the 50's. He will be studying the 90's and 80's to try to match where I am in history.

History Tutoring review by Kimberly in Seattle, WA
The student received one of his history books, so we worked through three of the five chapters that will be on his test on Tuesday. We continued to use a read aloud strategy, and I encouraged him to take notes on each section of each chapter. The test will cover one more chapter in this book as well as four chapters in a book he does not have yet. He thinks the professor might give them a practice test tomorrow, and if so it will give us something to work with as we prepare.
