I am a premedical student majoring in biology and psychology attending Union College in upstate New York, as part of the 8-year combined "Leadership in Medicine" program with Albany Medical College. Since as early as elementary school, math has been my favorite academic subject, and most of my tutoring experience has been in tutoring math. I enjoy math of all kinds, from algebra to geometry to higher-level mathematics like calculus and statistics, and I find the problems to be like fun mini puzzles where there are different strategies to arrive at the correct answer. I hope to use my skills and experience with math to help clarify confusing concepts and give students the tools they need to solve complex problems. Outside of math, I am also proficient in essay editing and test prep (SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP). I have worked as a college admissions essay editor for over a year and edited essays for students who were accepted to top schools like CalTech, Northwestern, and Northeastern. I would be happy to share editing samples upon request. On both the SAT and ACT exams, I scored in the 99th percentile, with a perfect score on my ACT. It would be a rewarding experience for me to play a part in helping you maximize your academic potential.

I am expecting to complete my PhD within the year. I offer tutoring for English or AP English classes, and writing assignments for any class at any level, as well as SAT, GRE and GRE Literature preparation.

My name is Sameer Sahai, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Washington. I am a graduating senior at Northeastern University working toward a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. I am a professional scientist with multiple years of experience in the biopharmaceutical field. I have spent time in the classroom with elementary aged students and am comfortable with this age group. I am also familiar with AP classes and ACT/SAT preparation. I'm a Computer Science and Law, Societies, and Justice major at the University of Washington. I've tutored K12 students across a wide range of subjects, including district curriculum, AP courses, and SAT/ACT preparation. I also founded a volunteer tutoring program focused on dual-language support in Mandarin and English. Currently a second-year law student at the University of Chicago, Elena tackled the LSAT recently enough to remember exactly where the logic games and conditional reasoning trips people up. She teaches Analytical Reasoning by breaking each game into setup diagrams and inference chains, so students stop staring at the board and start eliminating answers with confidence. Her perfect 1600 SAT speaks to her comfort with high-stakes standardized tests, and her 4.9 rating shows that approach translates to her students.

I am a math enthusiast who is passionate about helping students gain confidence and achieve. I began tutoring other students in middle school and continued throughout high school. I believe all students have the potential to understand math, but they can be intimated or have trouble finding the learning method that works for them. With my extensive experience tutoring students of various age groups through different mediums, I have seen how my emphasis on building a strong foundation and understanding how concepts/formulas work, patience, and encouragement helped students see math in an approachable manner. I participated and scored well in various math competitions throughout high school. Additionally, I am experienced in high school standardized test preparation. I am also a native Mandarin speaker.

I am a rising sophomore at Cornell University, studying Human Biology, Health and Society. I am on the premed track and am pursuing a minor in South Asian Studies. I was born in India and grew up in Singapore and Buffalo, NY, where I currently live. This past semester, I tutored middle and high school students in math, biology, and chemistry in Ithaca. I also particularly enjoy tutoring for standardized tests such as the ACT, as I feel it is where students are able to make a lot of progress quickly, and it also tends to be the most rewarding for both the students and for me! As someone who loves making organized and detailed plans, I believe having a clear set of goals for one's future is the key to success, and this can be applied to anything, from a single test to one's entire career. I would love to help my students with setting goals and making plans in their high school and/or college careers, in addition to tutoring a specific subject! In college, I am most involved with Cornell's Hindu Student Council and SPICMACAY, an Indian classical music and dance organization. Outside of academia, I sing South Indian classical music and play many different genres of the piano.

I am a student at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Neuroscience while on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. I have experience with and tutor in a wide range of subjects, and am most passionate about helping students with standardized exams. I know from personal experience that any exam score can be improved with studying and practice, no matter how frustrating or impossible it may seem. As a tutor, my goal is to listen to and address my students' needs as thoroughly as possible. Outside of academics, I love to fold origami, watch Criminal Minds, and hang out with my dog.

I am currently a medical student in Philadelphia, and have a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Stony Brook University. I have several years of experience tutoring SAT students, but thanks to my mixed background I have proficiency in a wide range of subjects including mathematics, biological sciences, engineering, and physical sciences.

I'm currently a student at Northeastern University. Originally from Tennessee, I attended an all-male boarding and day school for high school, and was given a lot of opportunities to pursue advanced coursework and opportunities that weren't available to 99% of students in the area. As a result, I've joined Varsity Tutors as an effort to give back and try to help students get excited about learning various subjects, employing many of the methods that allowed me to succeed. While I tutor a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about standardized test prep, math (all levels), writing, and economics.

I am in the process of selecting a masters program in education that will begin this summer. I have 2 years experience doing 1 on 1 tutoring and it is very effective compared to classroom teaching because there is only one student to focus on. I am in my second year at MIT studying mathematics, and I am currently doing a research project in Spectral Graph Theory. I have been a tutor since my junior year in high school, and I enjoy teaching all levels of math; everything from pre-algebra through calculus and linear algebra!
