I am a graduate of James Madison University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in May of 2010. My majors were History and Spanish. I chose to study these two subjects because I enjoyed them! I studied Spanish for 9 years, in both college and high school, and I studied various eras of History while in college. I believe that with my understanding of these two subjects, I will be able to help students better understand their courses and schoolwork by finding creative ways to help them relate to the material. I am currently a junior at Georgia Southern University. I will be graduating in the Spring of 2022 with a Bachelors in Communication Studies. My first two years of college were spent going to McHenry County College (MCC) and getting my Associates in the Arts. While attending MCC I spent a lot of my time tutoring other students and children still in high school and below. While I tutor in a broad range of subjects, I am really passionate about English, and Public Speaking. In my experience, I find the most joy in seeing the improvement in students. I am fully aware that not every student is going to get an A. But when I see that a student is getting better, and their grade improves even in the slightest bit, I know that their brain in growing. I really believe that all education is important, even when the kids ask the question "when am I going to use this in the real world?", they just don't understand that we are helping their brains grow.

I gained a passion for teaching over twenty five years ago; a passion I've not lost after many years. I get immense pleasure when the student(s) grasp a concept, solve a problem, or make any accomplishment whether great or small.My journey as a teacher started as a teacher's aide which inspired me to become a teacher. I was trained in Jamaica and later completed a BA at Brooklyn College NY with my major in Elementary Education.Over the years I have taught in public, and private schools. I have used whole group, small groups, and individual methods. A focal responsibility was to implement grade level appropriate classroom instruction in all basic subject areas.Mathematics and Reading are the subjects I tutor most as that is where there seem to be the greatest need.It's rewarding to me to see the expressions on faces of early learners as they start reading, or a 4th grader being able to solve a Math problem independently. Tutoring empower students to reach a higher potential, and build a greater self worth. As a Tutor I spend much time reading as well.

I am currently a medical student in Philadelphia, and have a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Stony Brook University. I have several years of experience tutoring SAT students, but thanks to my mixed background I have proficiency in a wide range of subjects including mathematics, biological sciences, engineering, and physical sciences.I am passionate about teaching, and have taught healthcare sciences to underprivileged high school students in my spare time.
