I am currently studying for a Master's in Secondary Education; additionally, I recently obtained my Master's in English Language and Literature from Boston College. During the course of that degree, I concentrated in Irish Literature and Culture. Previous to that course of study, I double majored in undergrad, studying both English and history. My specialties for history are world history and American history.

I am not as interested in whether students know these concepts; as I am in if they can put them to critical use. My teaching philosophy has both traditional and radical roots, and rests, not only on my being an expert in my field, but on my being a partner in learning with my students.

I am a graduate from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) with a degree in Biology. I am particularly fond of Shakespeare (although there are a lot of students who don't agree with me!) but I also have experience reading other European and American literature. My history experiences covers Europe, America, and Latin America, although I have a special fondness for Tudor England (think Henry VIII and his wives), early American history, and classical cultures, like ancient Rome. I think that everybody can develop a love for history, they just need to approach it in the right way!
