Devon's African Studies master's work requires synthesizing history, literature, social science, and analytical writing — essentially the same mix of disciplines a middle schooler faces daily, just at a higher altitude. That cross-disciplinary fluency means he can move from unpacking a math concept to strengthening a paragraph's argument without treating them as separate skills, because at this level, they're really not.

I'm a rising junior at Harvard College. I study African American Studies with a secondary in Women's Studies and I am pursuing a language citation in Spanish. I aspire to one day go to business school. When I am not doing work, I can typically be found reading, writing, or dancing.

I am a recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a current first year medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I began tutoring junior high and high school students in math and science as a freshman in high school, and have continued refining these skills throughout my time in college. I completed the MCAT in March 2017, and still vividly remember the study strategies that resulted in a successful score. My high school students have had great success on the SAT Subject Test in Biology, often scoring in the high 700s on their first attempt. I am available for either in person or online tutoring, depending on the distance!

I am currently a first year graduate student at Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health working towards my Masters in Public Health in environmental health sciences. For my undergraduate, I attended Fordham University and received a Bachelors degree in both biology and anthropology. I am a Mount Holyoke College graduate with a degree in Neuroscience and Philosophy. As an alum of a liberal arts institution, I have gained a passion for teaching from previous my mentors and experiences. Therefore, I would like to use this platform to support young students in their academic goals and endeavors. I have 6+ years of experience tutoring in STEM and Humanities from grades K-12. I also have experience tutoring in college level Biology and Chemistry classes. As a NYC native, and a Bronx High School of Science graduate I understand that students are constantly under pressure and competition. I am from Phoenix, Arizona but currently live in New York as a student at Fordham University. I am a Philosophy major with a passion for learning and creativity. I have experience tutoring in pre-algebra, Latin, and SAT prep. I have taken the SAT three times, the PSAT three times, and three SAT subject tests. I am currently enrolled as an applied accounting and finance major at the Fordham Gabelli School of Business where I'm taking business statistics and calculus classes alongside writing and economics classes. In my free time, I watch tons of basketball and football and love action movies.

My teaching objective is to promote critical thinking, effective use of scientific information, asking relevant questions and approaching these questions in a methodological way, and working in a collaborative manner. To ease the learning process, it is essential to use multimedia and Internet resources as complementary tools for traditional blackboard and chalk teaching.
