I am an undergraduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and I have tutored students since my early high school years. I've had experience instructing and guiding a variety of students, from young middle schoolers taking their first steps into the world of computer programming to my own peers struggling with their calculus exams. Over the past year alone, I've worked with over 30 students, spending several hours each day to help them stay up to speed on their schoolwork. I specialize in many areas of math as well as computer science, biology and physics. When tutoring students, I draw on my own experience with learning the material to identify and address the obstacles they face. I believe that promoting a deeper level of understanding of the subject, as opposed to merely teaching to the test or problem set, will enable students to excel in the long-term.

I'm an MIT undergrad studying Urban Planning. I loved math in science in school, but know that it can be frustrating and easy to dislike when taught in a way that is difficult to understand, or when it seems useless and pointless to learn. My goal is to get students not only to perform well in these subjects, but to fully comprehend and enjoy them.

I'm not tutoring or teaching swim lessons, I enjoy reading (especially mystery and crime novels), distance running, and long walks with my chocolate lab Snickers.

I am a highly successful physics and chemistry teacher in Massachusetts Public Schools for over 25 years. I graduated with high honors from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering. My math skills are practical and include graduate courses in differential equations and computer modeling.

I am a graduate of Emory University, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then received a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University where I focused on Biotechnology. I am currently pursuing my M.D. in Boston, MA. During my time in graduate school, I tutored middle school and high school students in science and math. I love tutoring science, especially health sciences as I am in school to become a physician. I also enjoy teaching math and I find it to be one of the most rewarding subjects to watch a student grow to understand. Throughout my academic career, I have taken the SAT, GRE, and MCAT so I am especially passionate about test preparation.

I am currently a senior working towards my B.A. in physics, and I just returned from a year of study in Europe, during which I worked full time as a climate change researcher at the University of Helsinki in Finland and passed two intensive PhD level atmospheric science courses. This subject is my passion and I love passing that on!

My expertise is in classroom, small group, and one-on-one instruction in physics of the first year. I have, however, taught at all levels from non-science major courses through the graduate physics curriculum. My education includes a bachelor's degree in physics from Amherst College and a doctorate from Stanford University. During my career I spent time at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, the University of California, San Diego, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the California Institute of Technology, and Brandeis University, where I worked for nearly 40 years. I am a firm believer that students learn in STEM fields only by doing, not by merely listening. Thus the core of any tutoring experience with me is working on problems. The most formative experience a student can have is to work through a problem, explaining each step to the tutor as he or she goes through it. Only by explaining the concepts and skills to someone else can one be sure of his or her own understanding. My goal in any tutoring interaction is to assist the student in gaining the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to attack any conceivable problem set to him or her by a classroom teacher.

I am current student at Harvard Medical School. I attended Vassar College as an undergraduate where I studied Science, Technology and Society. I am a patient teacher and eager to work with students of all ages.

I am a graduate from Suffolk University with a BS in Computer Science. I am currently beginning a career in software design with a focus on mobile applications. My main passions are Mathematics and Computer Science, although I have a strong academic background in several areas including English and the physical sciences. I have been tutoring since high school and have experience working with all ages in a number of subjects. I have the most experience working with high school and middle school students in mathematics. My other teaching experiences include tutoring in English and computer skills in an ESOL classroom for refugees, as well as private and group violin instruction for children of all ages.

I am a graduate of Carleton College and currently work as a cancer immunology researcher at MIT. My ultimate goal is to matriculate in an MD/PhD program and become a medical researcher, and I look forward to one day teaching classes of my own.

I am an undergraduate student at Boston University studying in the Seven Year Liberal Arts/Medical Education Program (BSMD). I was a National AP Scholar, US Presidential Scholar Nominee, and in the top 5% of my class. Additionally, I worked as an intern in a graduate-level biochemistry lab researching the metabolically reversed reduction of aldehydes to alcohols.

I am currently a second year medical student at Tufts University. I was a tutor for fpur years at Brigham Young University, and I love helping people learn! I tutor Economics, Math and all the basic sciences. I really enjoy tutoring these subjects because my students and I work together to understand the principles underlying the problems, which helps us remember everything better and makes studying more enjoyable. My tutoring theory is that students either know the answer or know how to find it, and together we can make that happen.

After completing secondary school in South Africa, I did a PG year at a high school in Connecticut. During my year in Connecticut, I took Honors and AP Chemistry, Honors and AP Physics, and Honors Calculus; I also received the CollegeBoard AP Scholar with Honors Award. I have experience tutoring the New SAT. I understand the material and subtle nuances of the test. I have developed test-taking strategies that help a great deal when taking the SAT.

I'm excited about the opportunity to work with you! I graduated from Amherst College in 2015 with a degree chemistry and plan to matriculate to medical school this August. I'm comfortable tutoring elementary- through college-level science, math, English and Spanish and have significant test-prep experience, including SAT, AP and MCAT exams.

I am a software engineer with a B.S. in Physics from Northeastern University. This will be my fifth year working with Varsity tutors, and I am very excited to meet and work with you! I'm very passionate about learning and have dedicated much of my time to learning as much as I possibly can about how the world works. Ice Hockey is also a large part of my life as I have been playing since I was 8. I also am very interested in music and currently learning how to play the piano and guitar. Throughout the last two years of my high school career, I spent upwards of 20 hours a week tutoring in subjects including AP Physics 1, AP Calculus AB/BC, Middle School Mathematics, Science, and Spanish, Regents Geometry, Regents Algebra, Regents Trigonometry, and US History. I am a third year biology major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a strong background in math at all levels. Along with my biology degree, I am also studying for two minors in psychology and mathematics. I have experience as a tutor, both freelance for a year with several students and working through a school as a math tutor and SAT prep tutor for three years. I'm Dennis. I study physics, math, and computer science. I have done research about cosmic ray acceleration at supernova shock fronts in the Princeton University Department of Astrophysics, simulating how the turbulent plasmas push protons and ions. I have also worked at the Norfolk State University Department of Engineering, designing, simulating, optimizing, and building light filters for wavelength-division optical-electronic multiplexers. Another field I study is the mathematics of quasicrystals and aperiodic tilings, such as the Penrose tiling of rhombuses.

I am a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis studying business. I am majoring in Economics and Strategy and Organization and Strategic Management with a minor in Psychology. I have tutored students in all grade levels. Most recently, I have volunteered at the Biome School in St. Louis tutoring elementary school students. I am a graduate of Rice University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy, and a minor in Neuroscience. My previous tutoring experiences have primarily focused on college level physics, math, and chemistry; AP Calculus, AP Physics, and AP Chemistry; the ACT and SAT college entrance exams; general mathematics at the high school level; and middle school level math and english for state standardized testing. Additionally, I have experience working with students with learning differences including dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD. I am currently a Harvard student majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics. I graduated Class Valedictorian in high school and was named National Merit Finalist. I took 16 AP classes in high school, including AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science A, AP Physics C : Mechanics and AP Physics 1, with a score of 5 in all of the tests. I scored a 1570/1600 in my SAT and 800 in the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test and 790 in the SAT Physics Subject Test.

I am a current (though almost graduated) student in Chemical Engineering at Georgia Tech. I absolutely love teaching and tutoring, and I have 3 years experience tutoring and just over a year's experience in being a teacher's assistant. I am passionate about math and science, and I love helping people understand new material. Learning is something I have always loved, and I want to share that passion with others.
