I am an undergraduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and I have tutored students since my early high school years. I've had experience instructing and guiding a variety of students, from young middle schoolers taking their first steps into the world of computer programming to my own peers struggling with their calculus exams. Over the past year alone, I've worked with over 30 students, spending several hours each day to help them stay up to speed on their schoolwork. I specialize in many areas of math as well as computer science, biology and physics. When tutoring students, I draw on my own experience with learning the material to identify and address the obstacles they face. I believe that promoting a deeper level of understanding of the subject, as opposed to merely teaching to the test or problem set, will enable students to excel in the long-term.

I'm an MIT undergrad studying Urban Planning. I loved math in science in school, but know that it can be frustrating and easy to dislike when taught in a way that is difficult to understand, or when it seems useless and pointless to learn. My goal is to get students not only to perform well in these subjects, but to fully comprehend and enjoy them.

I'm not tutoring or teaching swim lessons, I enjoy reading (especially mystery and crime novels), distance running, and long walks with my chocolate lab Snickers.

I am a graduate of Emory University, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then received a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University where I focused on Biotechnology. I am currently pursuing my M.D. in Boston, MA. During my time in graduate school, I tutored middle school and high school students in science and math. I love tutoring science, especially health sciences as I am in school to become a physician. I also enjoy teaching math and I find it to be one of the most rewarding subjects to watch a student grow to understand. Throughout my academic career, I have taken the SAT, GRE, and MCAT so I am especially passionate about test preparation.

I am a highly successful physics and chemistry teacher in Massachusetts Public Schools for over 25 years. I graduated with high honors from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering. My math skills are practical and include graduate courses in differential equations and computer modeling.

I am currently a senior working towards my B.A. in physics, and I just returned from a year of study in Europe, during which I worked full time as a climate change researcher at the University of Helsinki in Finland and passed two intensive PhD level atmospheric science courses. This subject is my passion and I love passing that on!

My expertise is in classroom, small group, and one-on-one instruction in physics of the first year. I have, however, taught at all levels from non-science major courses through the graduate physics curriculum. My education includes a bachelor's degree in physics from Amherst College and a doctorate from Stanford University. During my career I spent time at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, the University of California, San Diego, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the California Institute of Technology, and Brandeis University, where I worked for nearly 40 years. I am a firm believer that students learn in STEM fields only by doing, not by merely listening. Thus the core of any tutoring experience with me is working on problems. The most formative experience a student can have is to work through a problem, explaining each step to the tutor as he or she goes through it. Only by explaining the concepts and skills to someone else can one be sure of his or her own understanding. My goal in any tutoring interaction is to assist the student in gaining the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to attack any conceivable problem set to him or her by a classroom teacher.

I am current student at Harvard Medical School. I attended Vassar College as an undergraduate where I studied Science, Technology and Society. I am a patient teacher and eager to work with students of all ages.

I am a graduate of Carleton College and currently work as a cancer immunology researcher at MIT. My ultimate goal is to matriculate in an MD/PhD program and become a medical researcher, and I look forward to one day teaching classes of my own.

I am a graduate from Suffolk University with a BS in Computer Science. I am currently beginning a career in software design with a focus on mobile applications. My main passions are Mathematics and Computer Science, although I have a strong academic background in several areas including English and the physical sciences. I have been tutoring since high school and have experience working with all ages in a number of subjects. I have the most experience working with high school and middle school students in mathematics. My other teaching experiences include tutoring in English and computer skills in an ESOL classroom for refugees, as well as private and group violin instruction for children of all ages.

I am currently a second year medical student at Tufts University. I was a tutor for fpur years at Brigham Young University, and I love helping people learn! I tutor Economics, Math and all the basic sciences. I really enjoy tutoring these subjects because my students and I work together to understand the principles underlying the problems, which helps us remember everything better and makes studying more enjoyable. My tutoring theory is that students either know the answer or know how to find it, and together we can make that happen.

I'm excited about the opportunity to work with you! I graduated from Amherst College in 2015 with a degree chemistry and plan to matriculate to medical school this August. I'm comfortable tutoring elementary- through college-level science, math, English and Spanish and have significant test-prep experience, including SAT, AP and MCAT exams.

After completing secondary school in South Africa, I did a PG year at a high school in Connecticut. During my year in Connecticut, I took Honors and AP Chemistry, Honors and AP Physics, and Honors Calculus; I also received the CollegeBoard AP Scholar with Honors Award. I have experience tutoring the New SAT. I understand the material and subtle nuances of the test. I have developed test-taking strategies that help a great deal when taking the SAT.

I am an undergraduate student at Boston University studying in the Seven Year Liberal Arts/Medical Education Program (BSMD). I was a National AP Scholar, US Presidential Scholar Nominee, and in the top 5% of my class. Additionally, I worked as an intern in a graduate-level biochemistry lab researching the metabolically reversed reduction of aldehydes to alcohols.

I am a third year biology major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a strong background in math at all levels. Along with my biology degree, I am also studying for two minors in psychology and mathematics. I have experience as a tutor, both freelance for a year with several students and working through a school as a math tutor and SAT prep tutor for three years. In my free time, I enjoy skiing, the ocean, and playing guitar and piano.

I am a software engineer with a B.S. in Physics from Northeastern University. This will be my fifth year working with Varsity tutors, and I am very excited to meet and work with you! Ice Hockey is also a large part of my life as I have been playing since I was 8. I also am very interested in music and currently learning how to play the piano and guitar. I also have much experience with adolescents through my tutoring experience, coaching ice hockey, and working at a summer camp. I'm a sophomore at Harvard studying Applied Math, Economics, and Computer Science. I've tutored in a variety of subjects throughout high school and currently work part-time as a Course Assistant for an Introductory Calculus course at Harvard. I especially love tutoring math and making it a more accessible subject for students to learn. Aside from academics, I'm passionate about community service (I'm a director for a student-run homeless shelter!), music, digital design, and baking!

I am current master's student pursuing an advanced degree in environmental engineering. I have about 3 years of experience tutoring a standard math and science curricula to students ranging in age from 7-17. I attended college at Washington University in St. Louis receiving a degree in mechanical engineering and energy engineering in 2020. During my time there, I worked as a teaching assistant for several different engineering courses, tutoring students outside of class in the calculus and physics related topics. I'm qualified to teach a wide variety of subjects, but prefer to focus on the fields I'm studying in school listed above; I have a passion for those areas that I want to share with everyone, no matter the education level or confidence. I believe that no one is "bad at math," but many people haven't been taught math and science concepts in a way that matches how they best learn. As a result, I try to tailor my teaching style to be the best it can be for each individual student. With regard to math and physics, I myself prefer a physical, graphical understanding of different concepts, so I do best at explaining what seemingly abstract concepts actually mean in the real world and how they act on a graph.

I am a graduate of Syracuse University, with a BS in bioengineering. I am pursuing my MS in electrical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. I spent my senior year tutoring student athletes in calculus and physics, and currently tutor physics and high school mathematics at a private tutoring center. I'm passionate about the subjects as I teach, and believe mathematical literacy is a critical component to success. Any student can become successful in math with the proper instruction and perspective!

I'm a senior undergraduate at Yale University studying biomedical engineering and will be starting my Ph.D next year. I was born and raised in Philadelphia and have travelled to a few other countries through study abroad programs and international conferences. I've been to China several times and love to practice my Chinese with others!

I am planning on entering medical school at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the fall. Throughout high school and college, I have fallen in love with tutoring and seeing so many new faces in the process. I am an energetic tutor with an abundance of tutoring experience in a broad range of subjects. As a biology major at Washington University in St. Louis, I am well-versed in chemistry, biology, physics and calculus. However, my academic interests are not limited to math and science. My true academic passion is for French language and literature, which is my second major at my university. I am a freshman Computer Science major enrolled in the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University. I have a passion for teaching students, and I am experienced with having to give one-on-one guidance in teaching many concepts. Tutoring is very rewarding for me because I am driven to help others and give whatever knowledge I have gained over the years in every field. I also have experience dealing with situations in which students are not quickly or readily grasping concepts, and I have developed the patience to handle these situations. I am a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis studying business. I am majoring in Economics and Strategy and Organization and Strategic Management with a minor in Psychology. I have tutored students in all grade levels. Most recently, I have volunteered at the Biome School in St. Louis tutoring elementary school students. My subject strong suits are ACT and SAT test prep and math. In my free time, I like to ski, play board games and watch sports.
