Upon graduation from New York University (Philosophy), I taught the verbal section of the MCAT to prospective medical students in my home state of Virginia, after which I moved to New Orleans to teach Middle School Math and Science in low-income communities as an AmeriCorps member. I now tutor a broad range of subjects, specializing in standardized admissions tests through graduate levels. I am a firm proponent of education and its role in a fulfilling life. Hello! My name is Neha Mothilal, and I am a rising second-year Honors student at the University of Florida majoring in Health Science on the pre-medicine track. I spent countless hours studying Taber's Medical Dictionary and organizing medical terminology into detailed study systems, further strengthening both my academic discipline and interest in medicine. My tutoring experience began with helping younger students prepare for spelling competitions before expanding into tutoring English and Math through Kumon. Working with students of different ages and learning styles helped me discover my passion for teaching and mentorship. Hello! I recently graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. I have a passion for reading, writing, and film and I am currently taking an online graduate course in TV writing with UCLA. The subjects I tutor in include essay editing, writing, and reading comprehension (i.e. anything pertaining to writing and english.) My tutoring style is collaboration based and tailored to each student's individual learning style. I have first hand experience with how frustrating it can be to get lost in a classroom and feel like you're falling behind, because you don't learn or retain information the same way as your peers, so I find it's the most beneficial to understand each student's relationship with the subject material and developing a plan from there, opposed to instilling a generalized "one size fits all" agenda.

With the changes in the ACT last year (science optional, shorter subject tests with differing times), I decided to take the new Enhanced ACT with hundreds of high school students to gain first-hand experience with how the alterations might affect test strategy and gauge any changes in content. My split focus affected the science score most (:D), but I look forward to sharing my newly gained insights with my students.
