I'm a big believer and advocate for brain-based reading strategies and have found the Orton Gillingham method to be highly effective in teaching students to read. I believe all students can succeed with the right guidance, and it starts with building a foundation of sound recognition and spelling rules.

I am beginning to understand what is effective in alleviating this problem at the individual level. I strive to create a classroom that is a safe place for positive self expression where there is a joy in learning. More importantly, I strive to be a stable and supportive authority figure for youth who have, in the past, been let down.
