I am graduated from Penn State University in Industrial Engineering in 2017. I've tutored ever since I was in high school, and I love helping people! I like to help my students understand math (and other topics) instead of just doing it blindly. My goal is to help my students improve their math (and other topics) and build skills that will help them find learning easier in the future! Fun fact, I used to work for Disney and I like to salsa dance!

I am a UCF graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA! I graduated with a degree in Health Sciences Pre-Clinical. I am currently in the middle of applying to medical school. I am here to help and have previous tutor experience! I was a Supplemental Instruction leader at UCF, where I instructed students on General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Although I primarily have tutored at the collegiate level, I feel comfortable teaching at both undergraduate and primary school levels. I feel more comfortable in STEM courses but can tutor English and ACT Reading as well.

I'm currently a second-degree seeking student at UCF for accounting. I can tutor in algebra and teach beginning violin/viola/piano. I wish to help kids who may be struggling in math, and help them see that it can be a very fun subject. I'm also very passionate about music, I've been playing the violin since I was 5, and I wish to pass on the excitement of playing an instrument to other kids. I am graduate of the Technological Institute of Merida, in Mexico where I received my bachelor in Computer Science. Since graduation I got married and move to live to Orlando, Florida in the US where I attended Valencia College to obtain my Professional Educators Certificate from the state of Florida. Later on, I obtained my masters in Curriculum and Instruction with Bilingual Specialization from the American College of Education. I was very active with the Parents Leadership Councils formed by parents of students who speak other languages than English. I have traveled to places such as San Jose, California to participate in a Bilingual Conference for Educators. I started my career as a middle and high school math teacher in Mexico, but fell in love teaching elementary and middle grades students in Florida. I am passionate about teaching in general, but math is my strong suit. I have taught second and third grades, the whole curriculum, fourth and fifth grade math and science, first trough fifth grades remediation math, and briefly Algebra 1 in ninth grade. I have tutored students in math and reading in grades 2nd through 5th at school site and middle school math at home. I have enjoyed the same tutoring students that struggle with math as well as the ones who wanted enrichment. I try to instill the love for learning and the love for math in my students.

I am a senior at Rollins College and have my IB diploma from high school. I did TOK, HLs: Psych, Econ, language and literature, and SLs: Spanish, biology, and mathematical studies. The thing about teaching I am most passionate about is breaking down complex topics into smaller or "bite-size pieces. I like to see the "light bulb moment" when it begins to make sense to them. I often will use abstract objects within our immediate surroundings to illustrate a topic or concept in a fun way. This tactile understanding tends to be invaluable, as students are able to replicate the illustration themselves whenever they need to understand the concept again. I am a licensed physician from Florida who is currently changing careers. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and have extensive tutoring and editing experience. While a student, I became a certified writing tutor through the Critical Writing Department. Since I completed my writing requirement at the University prior to matriculating, I was the first freshman tutor to be accepted into this selective program. The tutoring program involved a preliminary peer-tutor training course prior to beginning tutoring, in order to certify that I had the appropriate background to provide professional feedback to fellow students on their literary works and projects. After graduation, I worked for a full-service learning center where I created and implemented high school lesson plans for home-schooled students, provided academic support for students ranging in ages from 8 to 20 years old, and taught group and individual standardized testing preparation classes. I am an Environmental Biology major and Writing minor. Using my two interests, I find it easiest to help students learn complicated topics by being able to explain them simply and in your own words. I find that this way of learning is the best way to gain a full understanding. Difficult problems often have multiple ways of solving them. Figuring out the best way for each student to solve a problem can make anyone successful. I am Ankit Jajoo. I am enrolled in Duke University Class of 2022 studying neuroscience and computer science. STEM is my number one passion, while history is my number one interest. Humanities and STEM not only coexist, but work together often in life. While STEM provides the foundation for the future, humanities contributes to how it is used to advance humanity as a whole. I love biology, chemistry, and computers. It is so cool to see how all these tiny minute parts of the world interact to create you, me, and everything we touch. On the other hand, history is cool to see how societies interacted to create the present world. The past is never separate from us, but always influencing everything from the various countries to cities to the tiny villages all over the world. The world is a combination of all of this and it is my passion to understand the world. Other than just about education and information, I love teaching other people about stuff. I enjoy teaching all my friends some stuff, in return they teach me other stuff. Contrary to popular opinion, teaching is a two way street. I've learned a tremendous amount from students and I hope they learned a similar amount from me. Tutoring students in a field I enjoy such as STEM or history is a dream come true.

I am a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a focus in Cultural Anthropology and Minor in History. Prior to attending UCLA, I received an Associate of Arts in Communications Studies from Skyline College in San Bruno, California. In June 2018, after graduation from UCLA, I moved to Miami, Florida where I volunteered with the Americorps VISTA program, serving as the PeaceJam Coordinator at Miami Dade College. After my year of service, I stayed in Miami where I became a Middle School Language Arts teacher with Miami Dade County Public Schools. While I am an English teacher, and tutor a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about History, Sociology, and of course Cultural Anthropology. However, I love teaching Language Arts as I believe literacy and teaching students to express themselves through written communication is imperative to success in the competitive academic and professional context they are entering. One responsibility I was given this year is helping my middle school students at Horace Mann Middle School prepare for the Florida State Assessment (FSA). In my experience helping struggling students prepare for this exam, we always seem to have the most fun dissecting prompts and excerpts while prepping for the reading and writing portions of the FSA. I am a firm proponent of education, especially in the humanities and social sciences believing these to be necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading novels, historical texts, or anything that pertains to interesting aspects of human culture. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago, working towards a pre-med double major in Psychology and Biology (with a specialization in Neuroscience). Beginning in my early teens, I began working and volunteering as a tutor in a variety of environments: I began as a volunteer at a summer program for underprivileged children at the Learning and Tutoring Center of East Austin, and since I have worked as a private elementary school tutor, a private SAT-prep tutor, and a preschool tutor for the Neighborhood Schools Program in South Side Chicago. I have taken, and succeeded in, a broad range of Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) classes, and am familiar with the latest formats, question varieties, and scoring guidelines of these standardized tests, along with the SAT. My teaching philosophy is to go beyond "teaching to the test". Although test-taking skills are crucial for any assessment, I believe the most valuable thing a tutor can do is to enhance and help develop conceptual understanding in our clients. I believe that once a student understands something at the conceptual level, he or she will be much better prepared for the topic, not only in the specific test we are preparing for, but anywhere else it may come up. Memorizing words or equations might help somebody in the short term, but understanding why that word means what it means, or what an equation is actually depicting is worth the extra effort. Besides test-prep I think I can be a great help in writing and editing, as I have experience in everything from short, timed essays such as the SAT essay, to college essays, to research papers such as the IB Extended Essay. I am fully fluent in Spanish for anyone who wishes to communicate in or practice the language.

I am a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, with a BA in English Literature, and New York University, with an MA in Arts Administration. I truly enjoy learning so much that Ive studied various subjects at over 10 additional colleges across the United States and Europe, starting in high school! Im also a student of life, attending special seminars (like Landmark and Tony Robbins) whenever I get the chance. Over the past 15 years, Ive had the pleasure of teaching in many different settings. I am proud to say that the eleven-year-old Vietnamese girl and boy that I tutored for 5 years are both attending Medical school. In addition, I am proud to say that I speak, write and read in French, English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Italian proficiently. Whenever I tell people that I speak French, they often assume that it is not my mother tongue language because I have no accent in English. I am currently graduating from School for Advanced Studies high school and Miami Dade College with my Associates in Art both simultaneously. I am going to continue my education at Carnegie Mellon University. I tutor my peers and anyone that needs help in my family.
