I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. I am a graduate of McGill University (BA First Class Honors) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc First Class Honors with Distinction) with over eight years of tutoring experience. I am currently a curriculum developer for a company which creates relatable and culturally-literate courses for middle and high-schools, and am particularly adept at communicating and explaining concepts in a quirky, engaging, and intelligent manner. I am a graduate of Princeton University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature with minors Theater and Creative Writing (and won both Princeton's Creative Writing Award and its Theater Award). I was fortunate enough to have been selected by Joyce Carol Oates as one of her two advisees. Under her guidance, I wrote my first novel. Since graduation, I have been pursuing a career as a freelance theater director and writer. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago majoring in Classics and Theatre. However, my college uses the core curriculum and as a result, I've had a well-rounded, eclectic education covering everything from math to fine arts. I've won awards in community service, dance, and film, but most notably, 20 writing prizes before I reached eighteen. I am a Duke alum currently working toward a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. As a pre-med student who majored in African and African American Studies, I have experience navigating a variety of disciplines. I first became interested in teaching and tutoring when I worked at the Undergraduate Writing Center at Penn State, where I worked with student writing in a variety of disciplines. I worked with a range of students, too, from non-native English speakers to struggling writers to honors students and even graduate students. I absolutely love writing--I have written for local newspapers, campus publications, and even a section of a textbook. Working with students at all stages of the writing process is probably the most rewarding work I do. However, I also really enjoy tutoring in reading and have a great deal of experience working to prepare students for tests like the PSSA's and SAT's.
