I am a third year aerospace engineering student at Georgia Tech.

I have a BS in Architecture with a minor in Mathematics. I'm interested in helping students achieve their standardized testing goals and improve their mathematical skills.
I am an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University. I am working to earn a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in Art History. Ever since High School, I have had a passion for tutoring. I taught at a voluntary after school ACT program and tutored independently students across my county ranging from age five to sixteen. Growing up in a low socioeconomic area plagued with low standardized test scores I understood the power I possessed to give back to my community to those around me. Ever since I have been in love with tutoring and working with students to help better themselves and their intellectual growth. I have experience tutoring in most subjects but my main adoration has always been mathematics. I have encountered so many people who have a bitter taste in their mouth towards math due to their prior experiences. Whenever I am able to change their view towards math I am always ecstatic. I have witnessed the power education has to change someone's life and I want to pass on my knowledge to my students so they may pass it onto others one day themselves.
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I am happy to accommodate and work with learners on the spectrum.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.
I am currently a resident physician at Northwestern Hospital.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Logical Reasoning section tests your ability to analyze arguments, identify assumptions, and evaluate evidence—skills that don't always come naturally. Most students struggle with pacing (trying to read and analyze complex arguments in 1-2 minutes), distinguishing between similar answer choices, and recognizing common logical fallacies. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction helps you develop a systematic approach to each question type and build confidence in your reasoning process.
Score improvement depends on your starting point and how consistently you practice, but students typically see meaningful gains within 4-8 weeks of focused work. If you're scoring in the mid-130s and aiming for the 160s, that's a realistic goal with dedicated preparation. A tutor can help you identify which question types are costing you the most points and create a targeted study plan to address those weak areas efficiently.
The section features several recurring question types: Weaken/Strengthen the Argument, Assumption, Main Point, Inference, Flaw in the Reasoning, and Parallel Reasoning. Each type requires a different analytical approach, and mastering them is key to consistent performance. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who specialize in breaking down each question type, teaching you how to spot what the test makers are looking for, and practicing until the patterns become automatic.
Effective pacing starts with knowing your question types and prioritizing easier questions first. Many students waste time re-reading arguments or second-guessing themselves; learning to read strategically and trust your initial analysis saves crucial seconds. A tutor can teach you proven timing strategies, help you practice under timed conditions, and show you how to recognize when to move on versus when to spend extra time on a question.
Most LSAT prep experts recommend completing 15-20 full practice tests leading up to test day, with at least half of those under strict timed conditions. However, quality matters more than quantity—reviewing each test thoroughly to understand why you missed questions is more valuable than rushing through tests. Personalized tutoring helps you analyze your practice test results strategically, identifying patterns in your mistakes and adjusting your study approach accordingly.
Look for tutors with proven LSAT experience, ideally a high score themselves, and the ability to explain complex logical concepts clearly. They should teach you not just the answers, but the reasoning process behind them, and adapt their approach to your learning style. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors for students in Birmingham who can provide personalized 1-on-1 instruction tailored to your specific weak areas and target score.
Your first session typically includes a diagnostic assessment to understand your current strengths and weaknesses, a discussion of your target score and timeline, and an introduction to the tutoring approach. The tutor may have you work through a sample Logical Reasoning question to see how you currently approach the section. This foundation helps create a customized study plan that focuses on the areas where you'll gain the most points.
Test anxiety often stems from uncertainty—not knowing what to expect or feeling unprepared for certain question types. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction builds confidence by helping you master the material and develop reliable strategies you can trust under pressure. Regular practice with feedback, combined with learning to manage your time effectively, transforms anxiety into readiness and helps you perform closer to your practice test level on test day.
