I am a third year aerospace engineering student at Georgia Tech.

I have a BS in Architecture with a minor in Mathematics. I'm interested in helping students achieve their standardized testing goals and improve their mathematical skills.
I am an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University. I am working to earn a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in Art History. Ever since High School, I have had a passion for tutoring. I taught at a voluntary after school ACT program and tutored independently students across my county ranging from age five to sixteen. Growing up in a low socioeconomic area plagued with low standardized test scores I understood the power I possessed to give back to my community to those around me. Ever since I have been in love with tutoring and working with students to help better themselves and their intellectual growth. I have experience tutoring in most subjects but my main adoration has always been mathematics. I have encountered so many people who have a bitter taste in their mouth towards math due to their prior experiences. Whenever I am able to change their view towards math I am always ecstatic. I have witnessed the power education has to change someone's life and I want to pass on my knowledge to my students so they may pass it onto others one day themselves.
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I am currently a resident physician at Northwestern Hospital.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.
I am happy to accommodate and work with learners on the spectrum.
Currently a second-year law student at the University of Chicago, Elena tackled the LSAT recently enough to remember exactly where the logic games and conditional reasoning trips people up. She teaches Analytical Reasoning by breaking each game into setup diagrams and inference chains, so students stop staring at the board and start eliminating answers with confidence. Her perfect 1600 SAT speaks to her comfort with high-stakes standardized tests, and her 4.9 rating shows that approach translates to her students.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions
Score improvement varies based on your starting point and study commitment, but most students see meaningful gains within 8-12 weeks of focused preparation. Students who work with a tutor typically improve faster than those studying alone, since personalized instruction targets your specific weak areas—whether that's logical reasoning, reading comprehension, or logic games—rather than generic test prep.
Your first session focuses on assessment and strategy. A tutor will review your diagnostic test results, identify which sections need the most work, and discuss your target score and law school timeline. You'll also learn about the test structure and get an initial game plan for your study schedule moving forward.
Logic games require a unique skill set—diagramming complex rules and visualizing multiple scenarios quickly—that most students haven't practiced before. The challenge isn't the logic itself, but mastering the notation system and building speed through repeated practice. A tutor can teach you efficient diagramming techniques and help you recognize game patterns so you can solve them faster and more accurately.
LSAT reading comprehension rewards active reading and question-type recognition, not just understanding the passage. Common struggles include distinguishing between main ideas and details, and understanding what each question type is really asking. Tutoring helps you develop a strategic reading approach, practice efficient note-taking, and learn to predict question types before you read the answer choices.
Most students benefit from taking 15-20 full practice tests under timed conditions during their preparation. The first few tests help you learn the format and pacing, while later tests let you refine strategy and identify remaining weak spots. A tutor can help you space out practice tests strategically, review them thoroughly to understand why you missed questions, and adjust your study plan based on patterns in your performance.
Timing strategy depends on your strengths. Some students work through sections sequentially but skip difficult questions to return to later, while others tackle easier questions first to build confidence and points. A tutor can help you experiment with different pacing approaches during practice tests, identify which sections need more time, and develop a personalized timing strategy that maximizes your score.
Test anxiety often stems from unfamiliarity with the format and time pressure. Building confidence through repeated practice tests—especially under realistic testing conditions—is one of the most effective ways to reduce anxiety. A tutor can also help you develop mental strategies for staying focused during the exam, teach you how to skip difficult questions without panic, and create a test-day routine that keeps you calm and prepared.
Look for tutors with strong LSAT scores (typically 170+), law school experience, and a track record of helping students improve. The best LSAT tutors understand not just the content but the test's logic and strategy, and they can diagnose exactly why you're missing questions. Varsity Tutors connects you with experienced tutors in Birmingham who can provide the personalized instruction needed to reach your target score.
