Statistics Tutoring review by Paul in Austin, TX
The student and I worked on chi-square goodness-of-fit tests and, two-way table tests. We went through the four steps for each problem, where it was necessary: null/alternative hypotheses, verification of conditions being met, the actual calculations of the x-squared and p values and, the inference being made from the data (reject or fail to, reject hypotheses at significance level). He was having some problems working with the large amount of data within each problem - I stressed to him the importance of doing two-way table calculations ahead of time in the problem and, also made sure to review how to work the chi-squared calculations on his graphing calculator, to further simplify the problems for him.

Both students and I went through the review final for their class. This is a comprehensive final covering all subjects from the class. We were only able to get through about a third of the exam in our session. Performance was good, though we will finish the review exam and cover problem areas (e.g. probability, types of experiments and statistical contexts, working with z and t tables, etc.) on Saturday.

Today the student and I met briefly to correct the edits his professor had made to his poster presentation. The student wanted to rehearse his speech once and then we broke for the day. We'll have our last session together next Tuesday.

Statistics Tutoring review by Alonso in Austin, TX
Met with the student for the first time and we just talked about z-scores. It had been a while since she had last seen the material so we did no applications, just the significance of what a z-score is and how to compute related probabilities.
