I have never been one to push myself very hard and that was no different when it came to my academics. I cruised my way through almost all of high school. I only took base classes, and I avoided honors and Ap, but my mom had enough of that. So, when I went into my senior year of high school she made me do my first AP class, AP Statistics. Now, I was scared out of my mind and had all sorts of negative thoughts going into it. I enjoyed cruising, not stressing about school, and doing all my work strictly in school. It was the life I liked and enjoyed, but not what was best for me. Stats turned out to be the challenge that I didn't know I needed. When I first arrived in statistics I struggled with focusing, grasping the concepts, keeping up with the work, studying, and doing good on my tests. This challenged me to either continue to fail or push myself hard enough so I can succeed. As time went on my grades, focus, and work ethic gradually became better and better. Eventually, I ended stats on a very high note. I not only finished with a high A grade, but I passed my Ap exam and received a 4 out of 5. It was an amazing accomplishment for me and showed me what I was truly capable of with time and effort. It helped me develop not only my confidence, my work ethic, and my drive, but also my critical thinking. Having to think critically to improve how I operate and function only improved my skills.
