How Habits Have Changed Me by Hannah - February 2026 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my life I have had many opportunities to improve academically and personally, however, I have had to devote time and effort into becoming who I am today. One habit that has been crucial to me in making a difference in my success is waking up at the same the time in the morning.

To start, this might seem like a small thing that is not a big deal. The time you wake up can change and some might say that it doesn't really help me in the long run. However, from my personal experience waking up at the same time each morning has helped me become successful throughout my life.

One way that I have seen waking up at the same time help me is through my energy levels. I wake up at 5:15 every morning and I spend some time getting ready and taking care of my body. Through the process of doing this I find that I have more energy throughout the day to complete my assignments, to take care of my body and to achieve my goals, such as practicing the violin each day.

Another way that I have found this to help me is I have more time throughout my day. When I used to sleep in and change the time I woke up I found that I would run out of time to do the things that were important to me, like my homework and practicing my instruments. I would get frustrated and annoyed that I was not able to do the things I needed to do. However, in changing my sleep schedule so that I wake up at the same time and I do not waste time sleeping in, I have been able to find time to accomplish the things that I had a hard time with previously.

So, while this is a small habit it has made a huge difference in my life. It has helped me find personal success through not being upset and by giving me more time. Additionally, it has helped me in my academic success through something so small as having energy and time to do my assignments. In conclusion, waking up at the same time each day has helped me find personal and academic success.
