Taking Control of My Time and My Future by Cham - April 2026 Scholarship Essay
One skill I hope to master in the next few years is time management. I'm well aware that completing homework and being on time aren't enough to succeed in school, the workplace, and life. It takes planning ahead, staying organized, and learning how to balance everything without getting overwhelmed. This is a skill that'll benefit me not only in college but also in my daily life and future career.
I want to improve my time management skills since I expect to have more responsibilities as I get older. Classes at college will be harder, and I'll have to balance tests, homework, and a job or other tasks at the same time. I can stay focused, feel less stressed, and produce my best work if I can effectively manage my time. I also think that this ability will make me more self-reliant and accountable.
I want to start by using a planner or calendar to remember deadlines and important dates in order to improve this skill. To make difficult activities feel easier to complete, I want to divide them into smaller steps. As a way to keep on track rather than waiting until the last minute, I also plan on setting daily and weekly goals for myself. Reducing distractions is another method I'll get better at, especially while I'm attempting to study or do crucial tasks. Staying focused for even a short amount of time can make a big difference for me.
I'm also aware that time management requires perseverance. I'm willing to keep trying and get better over time even though I won't get it perfect right away. I'll find out what works best for me from every scenario. By building this skill now, I'll be better prepared for the future and more confident in my ability to handle whatever comes my way.
