I am a bilingual school-based speech-language pathologist in Milwaukee. I have been working in the schools for over 4 years supporting Spanish speaking students with communication disorders. I completed my Master's in speech-language pathology from Marquette University in 2016. I have also tutored students of all grade levels in Spanish, math, reading and writing for over 8 years, and enjoy supporting learners so they can be successful at school and work towards their goals for the future. I am a graduate of The University of Northern Iowa. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with a focus on European History. Since graduation I have had the opportunity to work in the Museum Field, focusing on education and programming. I've completed several research projects that were turned into published work on World War II and the Holocaust. I've also had the pleasure of tutoring off and on with students off all ages. While I tutor on a broad range of subjects I am most passionate about History and English. In my experience helping students struggling to understand a subject or find enjoyment in the subject is the most rewarding outcome. I am a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology with a Certificate in Global Health. Currently, I am in my fourth year of dental school. Throughout college and dental school, I have worked with and tutored students. While in college, I volunteered at the Boys & Girls club and took several semesters of a class in which which I traveled to a local elementary school to teach underprivileged children and excite them about the STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In dental school, I have volunteered at a local after-school program, tutoring and mentoring children, specifically in math and english. Even though I provide academic support to students with special needs, my degree is actually in the social studies. I have four years of experience in schools with students 5-21 years of age.Every teacher takes on a certain style of teaching that is unique to them. Mine involves the use of visual aides and tangible examples as much as possible but also includes several opportunities for independent practice. It is important to me that students are presented with resources and how to use them so they can then use those resources to take charge of their learning. Once students have begun to understand a concept, I encourage practice to build confidence and step back unless they need instructional assistance on a specific problem or topic.The ability to assist students successfully master a topic and become confident in their newfound skills is what I am most interested in as a tutor. I have a strong desire to help others see their value and how much they can accomplish with a little bit of support!

I believe that a strong foundation in Algebra is vital to true understanding of codependent branches like Geometry, Trigonometry, and finally Calculus. I also find that students learn best when they're involved and gain the most confidence when they're given opportunities to think critically.I'm currently attending the University of Wisconsin: Milwaukee for Computer Science and have a history in the culinary arts.In my free time I enjoy making music, exercise, reading, cooking, creating computer games, and playing with my two cats and bearded dragon.
