I am a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. degree in physical education and math. Having an inspiration to further my education, I obtained my master's degree in curriculum and instruction and my educational doctorate in educational leadership.I have always loved working with and helping others in math and athletics. I have been in the educational field for over three decades and still have that same burning desire to assist others in the area of mathematics. I have a strong passionate for numbers and apply it in my teaching of young students today despite the pandemic that have limited some and prolonged others to achieve their goals. I have completed an Associates in Business and I am currently working on a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. I just finished 5 years in the Navy, and I'm headed back to Rice University this fall. I graduated from Rice in 2007 and I'll be earning a master's degree in teaching. I love math, but physics and government/history are interesting too! Education has always played a central role in my life. In my teenage years, I was selected as one of only three candidates out of fifty-two mathematics students in the British School in the Netherlands to represent the school at the Frankfurt International Mathematics Competition which was attended by representatives from over one-hundred countries. We nearly made it to the head-to-head finals among many exceptional candidates and had a joyful time. Influenced by this great achievement, I became conscious about the fact that not only did I receive a lot of satisfaction from learning, particularly about mathematics, but that I also found the idea of efficiently passing knowledge onto others very empowering. The idea that an individual can assume the responsibilities of a teacher and contribute to the blooming of the students lives, can exceed a mere sense of satisfaction, and be very inspiring.Ever since the age of eighteen, teaching has always been a career for me; at times full-time, and at times simply because I enjoyed it. It was also at this age that I decided that in order to be the best educator I could possibly be, I would need knowledge, as well as qualifications, to meet today's ever-improving standards of the profession.I have three degrees that have enabled me to have a solid understanding of many mathematical concepts, one from the University of Manchester, a world-renowned institution that produced Nobel Laureates in 2010. I also have a Bachelor of Education from York University, which has enhanced my knowledge in a teaching career that I had been passionate about since my late teen years. I have always tried my utmost to inform myself about current research and trends, most importantly in order to engage students. Part of the new trends are the fast-improving technologies, and I have always tried to keep my knowledge honed.I am proud to say all my elementary students were accepted to their intended high school, and my grade 12 students have had no less than 100% university admission rates, which is something that encourages me to continue working hard.

I received my Master of Science in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University in 2009, where I was both a graduate teaching assistant and a graduate research assistant before becoming a graduate teacher of record. My area of specialty is Algebra/Operations Research. I presented my research at FAU during the Southeastern International Conference on Combinatorics, Graph Theory, and Computing two consecutive years, 2008 and 2009. Since graduation, I have spent over three years teaching Mathematics at the college/university level. I recently relocated to Houston, Texas, where I intend to continue teaching, tutoring, and mentoring. I have worked with third through fifth grade students with reading difficulties for nearly 10 years. I am primarily a Mathematics tutor, but my first love is English, and I truly enjoy working with students in Computer Science as well. Since my MS from Clemson is a breadth degree, I am an expert in all six areas of Mathematics. My goal is to turn negative attitudes towards difficult subjects into positive attitudes with accomplishment and understanding on the part of my students. During my high school years, I tutored middle and high schoolers in various subjects ranging from pre-algebra to statistics. I also did private tutoring for elementary school students where I helped them solve word problems and fractions effectively! My tutoring expertise does not stop there. I am currently volunteering at a school for students who have autism where I not only assess their behavior, but also their writing and mathematical skills!
