"Today was my first session with the student. She has been learning how to compute and simplify imaginary numbers as well as rationalizing and simplifying problems involving radicals. I came up with practice problems and gave her a few tricks (as well as visual explanations) to help when computing imaginary numbers. When we first started, she seemed somewhat familiar with imaginary numbers but not when the power was raised above 4. By the end of the session, she was quickly solving problems and didn't need much assistance. She did very well today, and I have a better understanding of her math skills."

"The student is an extremely intelligent, motivated, and engaging student. He speaks English very well and understands spoken English very well. We worked on reading and writing exercises in preparation for his taking the TOEFL, and we worked specifically on reading comprehension and focused on his ability to extract what he understood/learned from the reading exercises to successfully answer questions about the text. We also worked on correct grammar, pronunciation, and some vocabulary."
"The student is concerned about the amount she knows, so we did a practice test during our session. She has shown dramatic improvement with logic and reading, and she's getting a handle on the scrambled paragraphs. She's very applied and focused, and I have no doubt she'll be confident in her abilities on the test. We've done a lot of work so far."
"The student is definitely improving. We worked today on slowing down and making sure he reads all of the pieces of the questions, and I'm going to send him some more multiple-step word problems to work on for homework."
