I am a two year post-graduate of Emmanuel College where I was a pre-med major. During my time at Emmanuel, I was heavily involved in the school's tutoring program. For two and a half years I worked as Emmanuel's biology, and Anatomy and Physiology tutor, as well as a part-time lab assistant for Organic Chemistry. In addition to tutoring college level classes, I also was a part-time teacher's assistant at a local preschool. I was very fortunate to work in both fields at the same time as it resulted in creativity with my higher level lesson plans, and examples of real-life application to demonstrate to my preschool students.

I have experience tutoring at all levels, and one of my primary focus is to incorporate dialogic discourse into all of my tutoring sessions. This is a special type of teaching philosophy which focuses on allowing students to reach the answers rather than just showing them the right solution. I believe that a combination of dialogic discourse, critical thinking, and interest is necessary to truly understand a subject well.

As a teacher of History, English and related humanities I have ten years of classroom experience both in the US and in China. I know how to prepare lessons that meet clients needs and get concrete results.

I attended St. George's University School of Veterinary medicine. While matriculating there, I led a large study group and tutored students on a one on one basis. I found the experience so rewarding that it served as an impetus for me to continue teaching. I received a B.S. Biological Sciences for the University of Rhode Island. Afterwards, I worked at the Department of Infectious Disease at Tufts University doing research on zoonotic parasites. My primary areas of interest are Biology and Physiology. I am currently also getting my teaching certification in both subjects here in Massachusetts.My primary objective as a tutor is to help students make sense of difficult material. I truly believe that every student has the ability to thrive if the subject matter in presented in the right way.In my spare time, I enjoy staying active whether it be playing tennis or just going for a jog. My true passion is ecotourism. If it has great scuba diving and rainforests, then it's probably on my bucket list.

I earned my PhD in Cellular/Molecular Biology from University of Toledo in 2013, I have been actively performing scientific research for over 10 years, with broad knowledge in biological sciences. And I have worked with many students of different levels. I am eager to help you to learn more about Biological Sciences in an easy way. And I am also eager to help you to learn more about Chinese. After graduating, I decided to continue my journey in academia by remaining at MIT and am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in NSE. Although I have tutored a wide range of subjects in the past, I am most passionate about topics in STEM (my favorites are Math, Physics, and Computer Programming in Python).
