Tutoring review by Philip in Phoenix, MD
We covered exercises from the text book on areas between intersecting functions. Some of these were tricky but I think the student has the process down on how to set up the integral. That is, top function minus bottom function, how to determine the limits of integration, when to divide the integral up (when functions cross), and when to use symmetry for simpler integral functions and error reduction in manual equations. We then touched on writing area functions for cross sections of solids given the solids outer profile function. We will cover more of this tomorrow and move onto to calculation of actual volumes of revolution.
