I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with my Bachelor's in Philosophy. I have spent the past three years as a teacher at a private high school in Connecticut. I have taught British Literature, World Literature, Drama, Health, Physical Education, and Psychology. I have also tutored for the past three months at a Community College, working in the Center for Academic Progress, teaching remedial English and preparing tutoring materials. I am a sensitive, patient, and enthusiastic teacher. I love teaching, but I prefer one-on-one interactions, they are the best for learning and teaching. I am respectful of all people, and happy to work with all ages. I genuinely care whether someone understands material, I believe in a student-centered approach, and I prefer discussion and positive reinforcement over being a critical authority figure. I have found most students very responsive to me and appreciative of my methods. My hobbies and interests include writing, playing sports and video games, and spending time with friends.

In university, I volunteer frequently so I have a lot of previous experience working with students. During term time at Harvard, I work as a Day Coordinator for an after school program with elementary and middle school students called Cambridge After School Program. As tutors, we aid the students with homework followed by an educational activity that I create as Day Coordinator. I also worked as a Senior Counselor for the Summer Urban Program with PBHA, where I taught a classroom of rising 4th graders English, maths, and science to prevent summer slide. I also plan on working with children this summer with Crimson Summer Academy where I will be teaching a subject, likely history, to high school juniors and seniors. Prior to the corona outbreak, I was on a team to work directly with high school students in Vietnam to teach a seminar on mythology. I have extensive experience working with children, which has helped me develop soft skills such as patience, thorough explanation, problem resolution, and communication. Since June, I have taught English to high school students from Eastern Europe, which has been very fulfilling, as I see their comprehension grow!At Harvard University, I am a concentrator in the History of Science which involves the study of the development of knowledge. It is amazing to see how systems and thought evolve. History of Science has been amazing in changing my consideration of what is science and who gets a chance to live in our world which inspired my change to the non-medical path of history of science towards public health.

Writing is a passion of unexplainable intensity to me. Every day I think about the ways I can be a better writer, which often makes me a better thinker, and that's what I desire for everyone I tutor to also feel. That's the philosophy I've approached tutoring with in the past, both officially and unofficially, academically or otherwise.I not only want more people to feel excitement when it comes to writing, but I also want them to feel a sense of confidence. It is such a fun, and explorative, outlet for me and I find it hard not to want to share that experience with others, even if it is not also their passion. I hope that I can open doors in the minds of my students that help them consider writing in ways they never have before, rather than as an academic chore or boring mode of conveying information. No matter where my path in life takes me, that's always my first and foremost driving vision as a writing, and overall English, enthusiast. I hope to use my current BA in English, and eventual MFA in Creative Writing, to continue aiming towards this ever-evolving goal.

I am an 8th grade Language Arts teacher with a passion for reading and writing. I love the way reading a novel can pick you up and bring you anywhere. Someplace magical, someplace mysterious. Writing is an outlet used for expression and can be very therapeutic. Finding your creativity is a fun way to get to know yourself better. In addition to teaching, I am also the debate coach at my school. I'm an animal lover and in my free time I volunteer at many different animal rescue associations.I am able to travel throughout both Westchester, New York areas as well as Fairfield County, Connecticut.

I recently graduated from Tulane University down in New Orleans, LA with a degree in finance and energy. I have extensive tutoring experience over the years since I started back in high school helping my fellow classmates in a variety of subjects and SAT test prep. Subjects I have tutoring in the past include algebra, geometry, trig., pre-calc, chemistry, and physics. I continued to tutor while I was in college, spending the majority of my time helping underprivileged students at our local elementary schools. These kids often struggled in school and have had to repeat the same grade multiple times. Our program focused on reading comprehension and writing, and I am proud to say my student made it on the school honor roll for the first time. I view tutoring as a form of giving back to my community and as a mutual learning experience for me and my student. My teaching style stresses focusing on separating concepts that my student already knows from those that they are struggling with. This style has worked in the past for me as it clearly outlines our objectives and makes best use of our limited time. Outside of school, I enjoyed going out with friends for dinner or shows. I also enjoy tennis (love the game), fishing, games of all kinds, and generally enjoying the company of the people I am with.

Education is the key to success, something that I lived by since I was old enough understand what it even meant. I'm currently a 5th grade teacher at a public school in my hometown. I love to make learning fun, because that's how I learn best. And I want that for my students as well. There's joy in learning and even more when you understand how and why things work. I dedicate myself to breaking things down in pieces that I understand and make learning as fun and relatable as possible. I'm passionate about teaching and removing those obstacles that make school "hard".
