PERSONAL STATEMENTI earned a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Drake University, Master's degrees in both Educational Administration and Special Education, and a doctorate from the University of the Nebraska at Omaha, NE.I tutor all elementary and middle school general education subjects and special education for those students as well. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, science, and social studies.When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with our large extended family, spending time with our dog, reading, and traveling when I can.When I was a child, I always looked for role models and one of my elementary teachers, Mrs. John stepped up as a very influential figure in my life. The English language, both in reading and writing have been a main interest in my life. Throughout the time I was studying Music and Library Science, I tutored both peers and high school students in English reading, writing, diction, and test preparation. I tutored my peers in test preparation and writing skills from 2004 to 2010. From 2010 to the present, I taught diction, writing, and reading to both international students and native speakers. My favorite subject to teach is writing because it is a skill that incorporates all other English skills. I believe that everyone is capable of learning, and will gain confidence as they accomplish small learning goals. If the goals are too broad, the learning experience will be too overwhelming and the student may lose confidence in his or her abilities. I enjoy research, learning new things, and helping others reach their learning goals. Outside of academics, I enjoy gardening, music, and the company of my four dogs. Ever since graduation I have been performing coaching/teaching activities at the different industries I have worked in including Oil, Technology, Banking, Finance, Health and now properly in Education since 2006. I have lived in different countries for a considerable amount of time including Brazil, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Panama. As you can tell, most of them Spanish speaking countries with the exception of the first one. I have tutored extensively in Spanish in most cases students from International Schools who require preparation in math for standardized tests such as the PSAT, SAT and ACT as well as for other international examinations; though it is noteworthy I tutor a broad range of academic subjects and standardized tests. I enjoy the spontaneity of the students. I like to ask questions while the class takes place in order to make sure the subject is understood. I care about students reaching their goals, and that is why I constantly remind them the importance of committing to regular practice. In my leisure time I enjoy reading novels, watching movies and TV comedy series, biking, yoga, overall I enjoy a pacific and healthy life.

There, I earned my degree in Biochemistry while working as a coffee shop barista, environmental chemistry laboratory assistant, and emergency department medical scribe. Further, as an undergraduate, I developed a love for teaching as I worked as a Teacher's Assistant in various biology and chemistry laboratory courses and later had the opportunity to serve as a private tutor in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. In May 2020, I earned a bachelor of science in chemistry with honors along with a dual minor in animal ecology and anthropology at Iowa State University. With a strong work ethic and extreme dedication, I was accepted into the PhD program in chemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle where I will begin this journey this fall. I have been an active varsity tutor for two months; however, I have two years of hands on teaching experience where I was a general chemistry teaching assistant at ISU. My overall passion for teaching was highlighted this past semester where I was rewarded an excellence in teaching from the chemistry department along with receiving an ACS award in inorganic chemistry for my undergraduate research. I primarily focused on general chemistry on varsity tutors; however, I also tutor subjects related to physical chemistry such as quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and kinetics. I throughly enjoy tutoring physical chemistry because I love the math involved with this field along with the practical applications physical chemistry can offer such as molecular spectroscopy.
